I've hit a rough patch recently. I lost my job due to a tech layoff at my company and have been relying on my severance pay to meet my financial obligations, including paying child support to my separated ex-wife. When the severance ran dry, I found myself in a tight spot. Unemployment benefits barely covered anything, and with my new rent bill since I had to move out, things have been tough.

To make up for the shortfall, I started driving for Uber. It's not a lot, but it's something. Now, my ex has caught wind of this and she sees it as a viable income. She's decided to file for child support today. This is all new to me and I'm trying to navigate these unfamiliar waters. One thing that's throwing me off is her asking for my driver's license. This doesn't sit right with me and I'm not sure why she would need it.
