Today I put a box in the basement.

This box had lived in the bedroom closet, in an easy to grab spot. IT contained our vows, our certificate, photos, letters we had written eachother, journals of our time courting. It had been stored in a place I could grab it quickly if the housenwas on fire, alone on a shelf, to be opened and thumbed through.

Now it's in the basement with the spiders. I can't bring self to throw it all out yet. Her dress is still down there as well. I feel like I should save that, or atleast a piece of it for our daughter...

I'm not surprised that I was left to clean up her mess, when she moved out of the house, and I finally moved back in, it was a mess. Dirty dishes in the sink, dust everywhere, floors unswept, with sticky spots from the kids spilled juice. The last decade I cleaned up her messes, why would this change now.

But now the house is clean, the dishes are done, the laundry is put away. Its better than it ever was when she was a stay at home parent. Half the time this house is too damn quiet, but when my kids are here it is home, and that's what matters.
