I deleted all of my social media accounts yet when Im curious about a company or brand, I click the link to their instagram accounts since some barely have any galleries worthwhile on their website and since in most cases they do all their branding on instagram. Luckily, I can't stay on for too long without a login pop up prompt from instagram which I no longer have.

Just now I was checking out a brand and then found myself on an influencers page who listed herself as a "bonus mom to 4 boys" she had no bio kids of her own (yet?) I recall my Instagram scrolling days and seeing a lot of this "bonus mom" stuff. In some cases, it was a mixture of blended families where both partners entered the relationship with children or where it was reversed and the man was a step father to his partners child.

In most cases I saw bonus mom plastered on many ladies bio. Hardly every saw "bonus dad" in the case of step fathers as in it was not listed in their bio or they simple did not word it like that.

I've equally seen "bonus mom" in bios where woman had no biological children of their own with their partner or if they did they were either expecting (mom to be) or would literally list the ages (ie: bonus mom to two twin 5 y/o girls and mom to 6 mo boy) either way I noticed women were the first to tell you they're "bonus moms" and give ALL the details.

I know that blended families are a real thing! I know that for many reasons some women may not be able to have biological children and either adopt or accept their partners children as their own...etc

Still, I feel like there is some underlying conditioning in there. Or maybe these ladies are genuinely proud to be moms! Which can absolutely be the case. But in most cases it feels to me like "he picked me to be the mother of his kids who aren't biologically mine"
