Letter to your local Title IX administrator if in the USA. Put the link to the posters up here for public shaming, they will roar across the Internet. These 'I am Girl' campaigns are flawed on so many levels and you should not have to tolerate them in an educational setting.

These campaigns are from the school of 'Rights based International Aid' as opposed to 'Needs based International Aid'. They are by definition political and have received criticism from many quarters. Their base premise is change your world to our Utopian vision and all your problems will be solved, it is cultural imperialism. You end up with Ethiopia and not Utopia.

Start your own fundraising event.

The fact that you're a girl will pretty much make you immune to any calls of sexism/misogyny.

Find a teacher that agrees with you so he can make it more "official" and credible. Make up a few posters that stress the fact that you want to help EVERYONE and not just girls, and then start collecting donations as well.

If this was the only fundraiser your school was participating in, you would have a point. Has your school actively banned any Movember fundraising? Does your schools support any other charities that only affect a portion of the population. For example, if your school collects food for a food bank or raises money for a soup kitchen, is that discrimination because only a portion of the population benefit from soup kitchens and food banks?

Schools do not run charity and fundraising programs. Schools only participate in campaigns set-up by outside organization. If you want there to be a similiar charity but for boys, you can't go to the school and expect the school to do 100% of the set-up work and figure out how the charity is going to run, where the money is going to go and how its going to be organized. You have to find an outside organization that is going to do all work and then ask your school if they want to participate (and even then they are going to ask you to do a lot of the legwork). If the only organizations that are asking schools to participate in fundraising are those that benefit girls, then that's all the organizations that schools are going to support and that's not discrimination.

This happens all the time. There's a charity in Canada that literally only supports women in developing countries. Because "when women are empowered, greater things happen". They only help out girls, it's ridiculous.

Organize a fundraiser of your own for underprivileged boys. Get involved.

For example - I was upset about the vast disparity between breast cancer research and prostate research... I signed up for movember, am growing a stache and have already raised $200 in the past week from friends & family that I've been talking about movember to.

Change needs to start at the grass roots.

So, glad you have come out of the shadows. This is a great moment to educate your child. As far as dealing with the school I wish you the best of luck. It's nice to have a Mother as an ally of men's rights and being concerned about men's issues. Lord, knows Fathers need as many allies as they can get.

This is beyond retarded. Sending money to women in third world countries is about the worst way to:

A) Help anyone in third world countries at all

B) Target their help towards women

Even if they want to help women over men, they're not achieving it.

lol, they highlight the fact that an educated girl is 6 times less likely to get married and have kids as one of the top reasons for this campaign. So I assume they were probably huge fans of China's One Child Policy. Seriously, why is not getting married considered a positive thing? Especially in the developing world where local customs often hold up marriage as the number 1 goal of a woman, this just seems like an attempt to destroy their culture in the name of feminism.
