It seriously does not make sense. If I marry someone and we get divorced 5 years later, why the fuck should I have to pay them for the rest of my life? One of my friends step dad's up here in Canada has been remarried for 15 years, and his ex is now going after his pension that he has, because she has no money. He never had the current job while he was married to his ex, but she still feels that she is entitled to half his fucking pension. WTF! This is bullshit. Seriously why should you have to pay them for the rest of your life. You get married, it didn't work out, so fuck off. You should not have to pay for your mistakes forever.

And what pisses me off most, is 9 times outta 10 it is the guy who always gets fucked. WHY WHY WHY?? Are women still so damn powerless that they can't go out there and earn a decent living?

It's stuff like this that keeps me from getting married. All this stuff is just to scary. Laws need to be changed big time. I can understand child support but alimony...that needs to be abolished I think as long as the person with the child/children has a job. If both have jobs during the divorce then no alimony. If alimony needs to be paid then it should have a set time and if you don't have a job by that time then tough titties. That means your not trying to provide for your kids.

To me, it really depends how much of an absentee father this man was. If he forced his wife into a position where she cared for the children for 20+ years, regardless of how much he provided financially, then he made the bed he is sleeping in.
