The article being critiqued here was submitted to r/feminisms. It's somewhat heart warming, based on the responses there, that most sane people do not think that way… and that instead it just results in a few bans.

Science can't be anti-feminist. Its un-possible.

DNA tests should be mandatory before anyone is on the hook for child support. I personally think that before leaving the hospital there should ALWAYS be a paternity test.

If the father can not be identified, the baby should be held until the mother, under penalty of perjury, swears that the father is:

1) Unknown, in which case the woman's picture should be published twice in the paper (as in cases of probate court) so that the father can come forward.

2) Dead.

3) Otherwise unable to make it, but identified and has been notified.

This would ensure that a father has his right to the child and that the mother doesn't just hide the child from the father.

Paternity testing should represent liberation for women. I would think that all of the historical oppression against women -- from veils, to restrictions against walking about without an escort, to female genital mutilation (aka, "circumcision") -- boils down to the effort of men trying to ensure the paternity of the children they raise.

Make paternity certain. It's a shame we couldn't have done this 50,000 years ago.

Lets mix up all children at birth, then hand them out to mothers randomly. Then lets see who thinks it matters.

Decent article. Stupid feminist.

It is tough to interpret her statements as anything other than a power grab. If she is representative of other feminists (not something that can be garnered from this single article), then it would be indicative that feminism isn't about freedoms/rights/equality, but about power.

Fortunately, I don't think the feminist in this case represents the majority. The unfortunate part is that her views may influence others, and the representation may change.

I'm glad I took a feminist course while my girlfriend was still young, so I could see how as a male my grade was computed to make it impossible to get an A. I calculated a 99% and it was automatically changed to 89%. The teacher said often "I will never give a man an A."

That woman forever turned my girlfriend against feminism (that and the book was made up rubbish that was SOOO easy to refute).

Feminists (who go beyond equal rights of the 1960s) are delusional and need to be resisted like one would resist the KKK. There is really no difference between the two groups, and I mean that literally. What they do to men is the philosophical equivalent of a lynching.

I'm a feminist and I'm fine with DNA paternity testing. I really don't see any outcries against paternity testing coming from mainstream feminists either, so I really don't understand the argument against it.

I mean, I know that there are non-traditional families with step-children and adopted children who get indignant when anyone suggests that they don't want to raise a child that isn't genetically linked to them, but meh. That's not very persuasive since it's such a personal choice.

Oooh, another article trying to lump all feminists into the same box...

"DNA tests are an anti-feminist appliance of science" - can someone explain this to me? I'm a feminist but I absolutely can't understand what's anti-feminist (w/e the hell that means) about a DNA test.
