personally, i think this boils down to the 2 deaths theory.

death of the person (actual death)

and death of the image (things like defamation and shit throwing)

when i first saw this clip a few months ago, i thought moore was just pandering to his audience, throwing out buzz-words to quiet them.

back to the 2 deaths thing, i feel that moore fears the death of his image more than the death of himself.

From what I have seen in the video's the politically nimble Moore will be at the front of the line declaring his undying devotion to mens rights and saying his previous comments were a mistake.

I agree that it does no good to call Michael Moore names. We have very powerful arguments just by pointing to legal double standards, the behaviour of family courts etc. We should make as much noise about these issues as we can without allowing opponents grounds for ad hominem attacks (although this will happen anyway.)

However, Michael Moore has made his entire career out of personal attacks on his enemies. His standard of discourse is very low and his film mehtodology seems to revolve around taking people by surprise and putting them on the spot and then cutting and framing the footage to suit his own agenda.

I long ago came to the conclusion that his prime motivation is to project his own personal failings onto others. (His own inarticulacy, when put on the spot rivals that of his number one enemy George W. Bush, his weight suggests a lack of exercise and addiction to junk food inappropriate for someone attacking the capitalism that has produced this lifestyle and he makes a very great deal of attacking people who are male and white, like himself.
