As a man, I see the dating market (not the sex market) slowly closing for men. What do I mean by this? Well, women today have access to more 'attractive' men, while the selection of 'unattractive' men become only bigger. As the months and years go by, we will only see more and more men lead lives of near-suicidal loneliness.

Could you argue this is their doing? Yea, you could. It's likely that probably 70% of their problems are their fault. But even still, most men these days did not have a father growing up to teach them how to live properly. Of my immediate friends, only one has a father in his life, and he's living better than all of us.

So what does the absence of a father in a boy's life do? Assuming everyone already knows, I'm going to say it anyways. The boy grows up stunted, arguably less of a man than his more 'normal' peers. They don't know just how bad life really is, and just how much work they have to put in. Sure they learn at about thirty, but by that point, the women in their age group will have begun hitting 'the wall', and how in the hell can you ever be sure they don't just only want you as a beta-bux?

It's a race against time to, in spite of everything, become the man that all of your peers have become, even though you were given none of the advantages and, by proxy, all of the disadvantages. I'm not one for playing the victim card, but it's stacked against the boy with no father. And that boy is more and more common every day.

There are simply too many things to learn painful lessons from. There are simply too many traumas and life lessons to endure without becoming permanently jaded, thus losing all hope. By the time the common man learns the truth, he would have endured far too much to want to continue on, his view of a morally just world shattered. What is the point of raising a new generation if that generation is only going to breed more of this suffering? Perhaps more importantly, what is the point of finding a lover, if they never truly 'love' you?

This might have been a little more poetic than this sub is used to, and I apologize, but it has been an issue near and dear to my heart for a while, now, as one of those who have slipped through the cracks. There's so much for the common man of today to do (compared to those of last generation), and even less support than there was. Most days you don't have faith in any of it. So, what are we missing?
