So he and I have been together for 5 years now, when he met me I was pretty slim, went to gym a lot, took care of my health, made sure I wear nice clothes and everything. Over the years, I stopped going to the gym, gained quiet a bit of weight, stopped taking care of myself over all - I believe this is mainly due to the fact that I have been in and out of depression a lot the past couple years. I am aware I need to lose weight and have hinted that to him in the past well.

Couple days ago we were just talking about things we like to see improve in each other, the only thing he said was "I need you to lose the weight" well since then I have realized that we don't go out as much, and he doesn't really go out with me in public or show me to his friends and family like he used to couple years ago. Now, he is not rude to me, or abuse or anything like that. He makes sure to take care of me if I ever need anything or ask him of anything.

Now I am new to this forum, some friend of mine have said "he is a jerk for saying to lose weight, he should love you for who you are" but at the same time I kind of understand him saying that b/c I used to be sexy and I am no longer sexy..it has also impacted our sex aka. I can't really be on top anymore. My question is he is reasonable in asking and saying I need to lose weight right? like he is not being a jerk or is he?

The thought that he is or might be embarrassed by me really hurts me, since our talk I have been kind of beating myself up that I let myself go this much --- am I justified in this feeling or is he just being a jerk?
