Firstly, patriarchy purports to be an explanation of women's victimization. This is what's commonly referred to in the hard or social sciences as a theory being; "a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world, based on a body of facts that have been repeatedly confirmed through observation and experiment."

The Patriarchy Theory does not contain well substantiated evidence, it's predicated on anecdotes and circular reasoning (i.e. privilege is real because you have it and are unaware of its existence).

Secondly, you cannot make any accurate and consistent predictions with it. The economic theory of supply and demand will always make accurate predictions. Supply in the market decreases, prices increase. Patriarchy theory can make no such predictions. It merely sees a discrepancy in female representation in a field and asserts itself. That's not science, if anything it's religious.

Furthermore, patriarchy theory asserts male privilege but cannot account for why men are amongst the least privileged (in westernized nations). It has no answers why men are the most incarcerated, the most likely to be homeless, the most likely to commit suicide, the most likely to die at work, the most likely to lose custody and most likely to die younger.

In its failure to make any accurate predictions and in its failure to have a body of facts corroborated by thorough observation and experiment, as evidenced by numerous counter explanations (see Oligarchy Theory) and conflicting statistics. It's evident patriarchy theory has yet to be established as the best explanation for why women are lagging in some matters of equality.

What this means to me is that we must all reject the notions of a victim-class/oppressor-class mind set and look at lagging areas of rights objectively, repairing the causes of discrimination where they exist. We must treat gender equality objectively and not politically or religiously.
