We most certainly are getting more and more heard. In addition, there is a huge mass of potential support waiting to come out of the closet.

As soon as people in certain positions realise how many people are coming to the understanding that women, far from being oppressed, are enormously privileged, they will start to speak up. I predict a snowball effect.

I think posters here overestimate the negativity towards MR's positions,.

I was speaking to some friends who are very liberal, and I convinced all of them that men should have more reproductive rights than they have currently (I was specifically redding to the horribly named "financial abortion").

While the term "mens rights activist" is getting some flak, our movement is getting noticed. And people are agreeing with what they read because the evidence supports it.

Even places like /r/shitredditsays are helping us greatly. Every time an anti-male biggot links to /r/mensrights a whole bunch of people will come here and form their own opinion, and may have their biased outlook altered a little bit due to what gets posted here. And maybe they'll still hate us and call us things, in the same way that civil rights protestors were hated in the 60's, but they will have learned that our position is valid and that knowledge will seep into them and alter the way they think in the future.

This seems like an appropriate place to post this since I don't want to start a new topic over the experience I just had today. I'm a female children's photographer. I thought of this subreddit today at one of my shoots at a preschool. A little boy and a little girl got into a fight (not physical, just arguing and posturing the way little kids do), and the boy's friend stopped him and told him in a very serious voice, "When boys and girls get into fights, the police come to arrest the boy. Even if the girl started it."

It was a freaking weird thing to hear from a preschooler. It made me wonder, first, what has happened in this kid's life for that to be on his mind. Then it just made me sad to think about it being on his mind in general. Then it made me sad because he's sort of right. It gave me pause. I couldn't see the teacher from where I was to see if she heard him, or what her reaction was if she did.

I was quite pleased when I saw the comments about child support in the Doctor Who episode The Doctor's Daughter. While it was just a throwaway joke about sperm-stealing and the stupidity of the current law, for it to be recognised on a popular family television programme written by a progressive gay man was a very positive sign.
