This from Wikipedia and Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged". The last sentnence is wonderful. "Going Galt" these days refers to such a person withdrawing from the system.

"John Galt is a fictional character in Ayn Rand's novel Atlas Shrugged (1957). Although he is not identified by name until the last third of the novel, he is the object of its often-repeated question "Who is John Galt?" and of the quest to discover the answer.

As the plot unfolds, Galt is acknowledged to be a creator, philosopher, and inventor who symbolizes the power and glory of the human mind. He serves as a principled counterpoint to the collectivist social and economic structure depicted in the novel. I think Ayn Rand is an awful metaphor for what MGTOW do. Most do not identify as such, have no bitterness against the system (equally likely to blame themselves as society), and are absolutely not engaged in any boycott to drive society to its knees.

Honestly, my creative endeavors aren't there to benefit society, I do these things for myself. I only have one life, and wasting it out of spite seems... well stupid. If you want to live a quiet lifestyle because you find it fulfilling, or because you feel like you accomplished all you wanted - wonderful. But if you do it because you're angry at the world, well, whatever I guess.

this..... doesn't seem very well thought out. honestly, how does someone think that a few people boycotting society itself is going to make all of it stop? honestly I think this is wrongheaded, anyone doing this (1) severely overestimates their own influence in society and (2) overestimates the number of people who agree with them, and (3) overestimates the number of said people who would be willing to take this action anyway. on top of that, you don't change society by NOT participating. you have to engage it.

I'd love to think I could end forced circumcision by simply walking away from this country, but the reality is life would go on without me. I'm not really important enough to make a change by walking out.
