As a woman, I'd like to apologize for a few things. I'm sorry that I ever demanded chivalry, but yelled at you for 'patronizing me' by doing my heavy lifting. I'm sorry that I ever simultaneously expected you to pick up the check, but insisted that I be respected as a breadwinner. I'm sorry that sometimes I whined and complained about the existence of 'women and children first' as if we were weak and vulnerable, but then scowl at you for not giving me your coat when I'm cold.

While it is certainly true that some men treat/view some women as lesser-thans, I acknowledge that I can't expect change if we don't meet on common ground.

Modern people have very little concept of what chivalry actually is. It is a warrior code which applies to certain social classes, and to a lesser extent the people associated with those classes. Historical chivalry only applied to a small number of men and had little to do with women, and the parts that did were not about women so much as they were about a rather small number of women. Next time you hear someone talk about chivalry, ask them how much land their family owns. If the answer does not a fuckton tell them that chivalry hasn't died out, it just never existed for them. Or even better if you live in the US which didn't have that social structure just say that chivalry never applied.

I know they're only in high school, but man do I feel like kicking someone in the ovaries. You want chivalry? How about being a "good and obedient wife", doing as your told, etc?

And you girl (you're too young or daft to realize it now) are what those same guys call a "pump and dump". Yes, there are guys who hold doors open, but they do it to EVERYONE. That's not chivalry, that's simply being nice. The people who go out of their way to be "nice" are usually the same people who expect something for being nice. Aka the "nice guys" who complain about being "nice guys" and never getting their dick sucked by that one really hot chick.

So, TL:DR. Some people are nice, those people you should appreciate. The people who are nice (in that way you feel entitled to being nice) and make sure you know they are "nice" are more likely to use you.

That really felt like I was reading a blog written by a teenager. In fact, I would be surprised if it wasn't.

I had a women say that to me because I didnt hold te door for her as she was about 10 seconds behind me. She said Chivalry is dead and I said Equal rights is alive.

hasn't society moved passed chivalry? It was a way for a man to keep control of a woman. aren't we trying to move towards equality? yes you still have to make an effort in a relationship but that goes for both sides. splitting the bill, holding the door (who ever gets to it first) a woman doesn't need help pulling out her chair.

i believe chivalry has evolved into common curtsey, you see and you act on events. do feminists want equality but still want the benefits of chivalry?
