Yes. This is a double standard. But, really, it's so much worse than that. You have to ask yourself that if you can be relegated to the couch, the porch (current popular country song about this one called "The Porch"), a motel at her whim exactly whose house are you living in? You have to ask yourself that if she can call the cops at any point to have you removed from "your" home exactly whose house are you living in? We can talk about whose name is on the deed and who is making the payments, but it's all moot if the police can remove you at her whim.

You can't just have a decades-long effort to dehumanize men and it not have any affect. Remember women=humans, men=dogs.

Because they don't know how to handle their own shit. I've never slept on a couch. I have had girlfriends sleep on the couch in their own houses before though.... and yes, they were mad at me not the other way around.

Then again, I don't seek approval from anyone. Thats pretty much the reason this stereotype exists.

Because these men accept this type of behavior and allow it to go on. Poor arguing skills lead some men to believe that giving into the woman's every demand will somehow resolve and argument. All it does however is put yourself in a position that you are somehow punishable by the woman, as if she is some sort of moral authority.

Like if you are arguing, fine. If you want to sleep in separate rooms due to anger, fine. If you want to hold a grudge with each other, fine. But don't set a precendent where the "woman is always right". Men and women are human beings and both have the capability to be wrong.

I've seen this alot. It's funny. The media portrays it, and then women think it's normal, and acceptable. It's funny because most of the time the man is the breadwinner in the household, so WTF, he has to leave?

Because they are weak and/or dumb enough to stay with the crazy they've stuck their dicks in. Stable adults in stable relationships handle arguments with civility and understanding, not with demands or threats. It's not so much a case of a double standard as a symptom of an unhealthy relationship.

See, if I'm mad, I'll want to sleep on the couch or go somewhere else. I wouldn't tell my husband to sleep on the couch. If I was so mad that I didn't want to sleep with someone, I wouldn't want to sleep in the room or the bed that we shared. I did this in a previous relationship when we broke up but still had a lease... slept on the floor in the living room even though I was offered the bed. It was his bed that he bought for us. Why would I want to sleep in it?

I think its because men are more compassionate than women. We would rather see ourselves living in a hotel for weeks rather than inconvenience our women. If me and my wife were fighting I'd leave rather than kick her out because I am more mentally/physically stable. However, if she did something absolutely deplorable, like cheat on me, I'd kick her ass out and throw her stuff all over the lawn.

In a split up I'd like to think it comes down to who owns what and who contributes more, that's what family law is for.

As far as the dog house goes, I don't know... We tend to take it in turns. Out couch is REALLY comfy.
