SUMMARY: Male (small build, about 5'9" 150 lbs.) in his 20's meets 19 year old girl (medium build, approximately 5'7" and 130lbs.). They socialize at clubs and other parties for a week or so and communicate on phone and via text messaging.

Several nights ago around 10pm while she is alone at her apartment, girl invites guy back to her place, and tells him to let himself in; he meets her in her bedroom, they chat for an hour or so, and jump into her car to go back to guys place to pick up a movie. They return to her place and have sex.

The next morning around 8am, when guy tries to leave, recurrent car problem happens again; girl drives guy to auto parts store, guy fixes car problem upon return to apartment guy then leaves; a few hours later, guy realizes his overnight bag is in girls car trunk and returns to girls apartment to get it whereupon he is "greeted" by several of her friends in the parking lot accusing him of the above assault. Girl is present for this exchange as a passenger in another car but does not exit the vehicle or say anything. Guy is dumbfounded by this, attempts to explain his side then leaves. Girl contacts boy and states that she will meet with guy to discuss the matter but only in-person and only if guy arrives alone. Fearing a vigilante-type of setup, guy refuses unless it is in a public place or unless he can bring one friend, both situations the girl rejects. In trying to figure this situation out, guy learns that girl does NOT have any other boyfriend; that girls mother had talked to girl on the phone during the date; girl chose to tell several of her friends on the morning after that she was hit and raped but hasn't filed police report on either charge. Neither guy nor girl has any bruising, scratching or any visible injury. Girl did not not have a "kit" performed and has showered and changed since the alleged attack 3 days ago.

What can the guy do to protect himself from the "herd"? What can he do legally? How can he be proactive in resolving this? Should he contact the police on her behalf or his? What does he report? What would be the girl's motive?
