Male honor killings happen quite frequently, but they aren't called honor killings. They're called revenge killings or blood oaths. Sadly, very common in Egyptian society.

This issue reminds me of acid attacks. It seems these are used against men as much as women but it is only women that are in the press.

In both cases these examples are usually in the developing world. And they are naively used as example of how women have it even harder than men in developing countries.

Honour is an interesting one. It's a traditional male gender norm made necessary at a time when your word had to be your bond because there was no legal system, or even paper, and we had to be able to cooperate anyways.

While most traditional male traits were universalized, leaving behind the dregs feminists decided to call "toxic masculinity", honour didn't really make the leap.

Liberals are too cynical for it and if you look at the history of money, it seems to corrode the concept of honour as fast as it does democracy or basic empathy.

Obviously honour killings, which may be more pride killings than anything, are an actually toxic form of the ideal. However, the societal expectation that you're going to do what you do as well as you can, treat people around you with respect, help the needy, be true to your word and all the other aspects of a honourable lifestyle, seems much preferable to the current ethos of 'do whatever you can to help yourself while pretending to care about others' (i.e., woke capitalism).

Imagine if we had representatives instead of politicians and their every decision was made to improve their state and country while also reflecting the needs of their constituents.

Imagine if every business only took as much as it absolutely needed to keep itself going and redistributing everything leftover to all the employees and the communities which sustain it.

Imagine if you could walk out your door every morning with the assurance that you won't to eat other people's shit today.

This is how a society organized around principles of honour would function. We can't expect to be submerged in an economic model that places profit above every other value or ideal and still progress as a species. There is a direct inverse relationship between the amount of capitalism's and the health of our democracy. We're mired in its misanthropic muck.

Step 1, deconstruct capitalism. Then we can allow all the ideals its suppressed to breathe and grow again.

It is known fact here, in Eastern Europe. Try Google up about repressions against gay men in Chechnya. There were a lot honor killings of men done by their own families.

Although definitely true and very underreported it’s unfortunately another issue where men are responsible for the violence.
