What do you think of the slogan "The Future is Female"?

I think it's exclusionary and promotes sexism. A slogan that's equal would be "the future is men and women" or "the future is us".

I don’t like it. It’s exclusive by definition. The way the English language works, an adjective without a modifier is generally assumed to be all-encompassing (i.e. “my shirt is blue” brings to mind an image of a solid blue shirt, not a blue and red striped shirt). To be honest, three years ago, before I was too knowledgeable about either feminism or the MRM, the slogan was really what pushed me firmly towards the antifeminist end of the culture wars. I especially worry about its effect on young boys, who are already confirmed to be discriminated against in the education system and who are disproportionately likely to commit suicide when they get a little older. I can’t imagine being told their gender isn’t included in the future could possibly help them on their self esteem.

The slogan is explicitly female supremacist, so I reject it.

My understanding is that the slogan "The Future is Female" originated, or at least was popularized, in the 1970s when the separatist lesbian feminist musician Alix Dobkin wore the slogan on a T-shirt.

The next key moment in the slogan's popularization came in 1982 with the publication by Sally Miller Gearhart of a chapter called "The Future--If There Is One--Is Female" where she explicitly advocated the genocide of men. Specifically, she asserts that the ratio of men to women should be reduced so that men comprise only ten percent of the total population. Oddly, this call for the genocide of men appears in a book subtitled Feminism and Nonviolence!

In this chapter, Gearhart delineates what a "female future" means. Perhaps most frightening is her call to strip men of any reproductive rights whatsoever, stating that "species responsibility must be returned to women in every culture, that is to say, women must regain their say-so over the proper size and character of the human race." (italics in original).

The slogan's overt message, along with how feminists have deployed it (à la Gearhart above), render it irredeemably misandrist.

It's symptomatic of a pervasive anti-individualist mindset in modern feminism. The idea is that men had their turn and now it's women's.

Even if we accept the most one-sided feminist version of history in which women were all slaves to all men, this is still a really shitty attitude.

The men who "had their turn" are dead now or at least old enough that any changes made now aren't going to have any effect on their outcomes. The women who suffered under this system are also dead or old enough that they are going to see negligible benefit.

The men and boys who are being punished never benefited from that system. They never got "their turn." The women getting the benefit never suffered under that system. It's always been "their turn."

Imagine there's 2 people with blonde hair (Adam and Amy) and 2 people with brown hair (Beth and Ben). Adam steals $100 from Beth. In the anti-individualist model, blonde-haired people have stolen $100 from brown-haired people. To correct this. We take $100 from Amy and give it to Ben. We've addressed the injustice by taking $100 from blonde-haired people and giving to to brown-haired people.

This is the model being applied in slogans like "The future is female."

Until Women start doing the jobs they expect Men to perform for them, but refuse to do by a mass or overwhelming number, then that future will never happen.

I think the past was female, the present is female, and they mean the future has no males in it what so ever.

It has something to do with some deep need in both men and women to adore women. Has it to do with a maternal bond or is it even deeper biological? Or is it, on the contrary, typically western gynocentrism that started at the end of the middle ages? However, this adoration is both part of the 'patriarchal' (ending somewhere in the 20th century) and the 'feminist' west. It is one of the main phenomena left wing male advocates have to fight imho. Not to start hating women, but to start being realistic towards them.

I think it is a positive encouragement for women? Something like "it's been enough with men in the spotlight. It's our turn". Or just trying to get women to be more secure of themselves... I don't know.

It sounds kinda juvenile but I think it's mostly aimed at young women.
