Responding with “thank you for letting me know” is not something that warrants a response. Maybe a “you’re welcome” but thats rare even in person anymore

Most importantly, don’t take rejection or break-ups personally. Not everyone is for everyone

It's a choice that doesn't matter, so either just read it and never message again, or write something back. That's up to everyone else to decide.

These are real people present in your local community...doing jobs, with families and friendships, eventually having their own kids.

You don't have to take the effort of leaving them with a good impression of you but it is possible you may one day encounter one of them in a social or professional context in which you are glad you have done so.

It's a complete waste of time and does nothing.

It's just considered a social norm/courtesy and is customary for all sorts of divisions including those entirely outside of romantic relationships.

When I send a rejection text, it’s usually my final text. When they respond, I assume it’s their final text as well. After they acknowledge my rejection text, I leave it at that. What else is there to say? Or maybe I don’t quite understand the question??

How long does it take to type a single sentence answer. If you say that you specifically want to leave them on read because you're salty that you got rejected then I'd think you're acting like a teenager, but id understand why. But saying that writing a single sentence wastes time is the worse reasoning I've ever seen.

And for the rejection messages you get that's just them trying to reject you politely, to not make you feel bad. Would you prefer "nah I don't wanna date you because you're shit"? There's literally nothing wrong with the messages you're trying so hard to make fun of

Sure, whatever. I mean, if you want to remain friends with the person and the rejection isn’t too bad, maybe you just weren’t a good fit romantically. You could stay chill, be friends, maybe meet each other’s friends. But if it would hurt your vanity that much, don’t remain friends.

It's always good to show that there are no hard feelings. And takes zero effort.

If you are pissed, yeah, maybe don't answer, but it's definitely not their problem.

I’m polite because I respect the directness and also how many women feel unsafe rejecting men.

There’s no point in acknowledging the text besides basic human kindness. If a first date fails with a random, you are never getting another chance.

Sounds like your “alpha “ friends are just bitter people. This is not what you do with people who reject you. You own, eat it, reply professionally and move on with your life. It’s not personal when they reject you so reply and be professional. By not replying, you’re showing the other person you got no balls to confront rejection, and you’re butthurt, and trying to cope by not replying by thinking it’s “alpha” this ain’t it. You and your friends have a lot of growing up to do.

Why do you want them to respond to your reply? What do you want them to say? I would assume if I send a rejection message and get a civil response, the guy more likely than not wouldn't want me to message him again.

There’s nothing to game or more powerplays to make at that point, so just send a text so that you both know there’s no hard feelings and then move on with your life. Who cares if they don’t respond, what needs to be said?
