Which has been debunked with data through multiple angles - no idea why this narrative is so alluring to people other than it gives men an excuse to give up working on themselves and hate on women.

The RedPill version of hypergamy is made up. How can so many people be married or in relationships if all women are only dating the top 20% of men? Hypergamy in the traditional sense is women marrying men who have more status and money than them. That’s because women were excluded from the workforce and didn’t have property and voting rights in the past. With equal pay and women participating more in the workforce, hypergamy is declining.

redpill never talks about how this works the other way around, for some reason. how many men are going for the "top" 20% of women anyway? what makes someone that top strata? I'd take a waiter with good taste in movies over a finance guy who just watches the same 3 shows on netflix when he gets home easily, and to try and rank people according to some statistic of overall attractiveness seems impossible. going by straight looks though, a lot of men don't try in that respect. plenty of women don't either, and those women usually have about the same amount of success at dating if not worse, because women are taught to be compliant and not directly hurt feelings so they'll humor men they're not interested in. women can be shallow, but men are just as much if not more, frequently demanding partners who can keep up physical appearance and do the majority of household chores as well. maybe it's time for redpill guys to lower their standards, see what happens.

Men and women have the same standards for LTRs, but men drop them to frankly sad levels when it comes to casual sex. Plenty of studies showing this. Not only hypergamy doesn't exist, it's a case for male hypogamy.

Ask any dude you know how many women he sees on the daily walking on the street he would fuck and then ask him how many he would actually date in a long term, exclusive relationship of years and you'd get your answer.

Women like to be provided for, and I don't think that's going to change, but all this top 20% stuff idk. A lot high earning men I know that didn't marry in their 20-30's seem to rely on transactional relationships which may work for them depending on their personality and lifestyle. That's where a part of this cope comes from that women in their 20's want men in their 40s. No, some of these men can just afford to buy a woman in her 20's or just pretend they can until the gig is up. I've dated across the earnings board, and what a man earned never made a difference if he was treating me well. I think we should all be striving to to our best in life, because everybody wants that type of partner. I can work with a person that is trying, but I can't be with someone that is a perpetual victim.
