Imagine getting 5 years and 4 months for rape, bribery and threatening to harm a child and his family if he told the police. How much time would a man get in this situation?

[–]Shoddy_Art_2298 109 points110 points111 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Probably 30 for the rape, ten for the bribery, and seven for the threatening of a child and family

[+]kyasonkaylor -9 points-8 points-7 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Um no one gets 30 years for raping it's usually like 1 to 8 years

There is a story about a man who was falsely accused of rapeing a woman and was sentenced to 40 years in prison and finally the woman told the truth and he got out a year later Edit: https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2020/08/28/us/ronnie-long-nc-wrongful-conviction-trnd/index.html

US: average sentence for convicted rapists was 9.8 years, while the actual time served was 5.4 years

Australia: one in ten convicted rapists in Victoria, Australia, served a wholly suspended sentence, and the average total effective sentence for rape was seven years.

Ireland: In the Republic of Ireland, the average sentence given for rape is 5 – 7 years. src

Laws regarding rape

Punishment of assailants

Punishment for rape in most countries today is imprisonment. Castration is sometimes a punishment for rape and, controversially, some U.S. jurisdictions allow shorter sentences for sex criminals who agree to voluntary chemical castration. In the past, rape was often punished with death, and it is punishable by death in at least 9 countries today: China, Afghanistan, United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and North Korea. In some of these instances, special circumstances apply.

Its not a coincidence a lot of these articles are from the UK. You have to remember they are much more lenient with their sentencing. A man might get a longer sentence but probably not by much if he was a first time offender like this woman.

Hmm, calls them pedo, refuses to mention that it was rape. Also, I hate how they post a bunch of glam photos to manipulate readers.

I get that journalists scour social media for photos to use, but stop sensationalising these fucking criminals. Just use the mugshot that's provided...

[–]LW_YT 36 points37 points38 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

for men they use mugshots most of the time, to make them look "bad and ugly'

[–]jumper501 17 points18 points19 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Can't call it rape in the UK because it doesn't meat the narrow UK definition.

[–]reddboy1981 11 points12 points13 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If they were true journalists they would have used her mug shot only

[–]auMatech 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I understand the 14 year old boy was super horny

So you're saying it's okay because the child, who was underage was apparently horny?

Big yikes, would you feel the same about a male teacher when the girl is "super horny".

Either way, it's statutory rape. She had a duty of care.

[–]The_ChainedOne 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not sure of the laws in the UK but you have something called statutory rape. You have a legal age in which you can consent to sexual intercourse. If you underneath that age and engage in sexual activities its still considered rape under the law no matter what occurred.

[–]Reddit1984Censorship 15 points16 points17 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Awesome !

[–]Jezz_ah_bells 78 points79 points80 points 4 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Except the didn't use "rape"

[–]matrixislife 40 points41 points42 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They can't. The Sun is a UK paper and UK law defines rape as something done with a penis. If they called it rape they'd get sued and she'd get a nice nest egg when she gets out.

[–]PhilistinesNeedToDie 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Not even statutory rape?

[–]alcockell 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Statutory rape does not exist as a charge under UK law...

Section 4 of the Sexual Offences Act does have equivalent sentencing thoiugh..

I think- IANAL.

I'm still not clear as to how it's a legal matter, if all these arguments are not already legal. We don't need new laws - we just need enforcement of the existing laws. New laws usually oppress the people.

[–]C20H25N3O-C21H30O2 14 points15 points16 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What a massive difference a makeup does. Anyway, in addition to calling her a paedophile, they should have said she raped the kid, because that's what it was. Statutory rape.

[–]Mister_historious 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I once read a scientific report about female sexual delinquents convicted by a court that served an area inhabited by 1,5 million of people in Western Europe. The researcher started with the aim of doing a statistical analysis. It became more of a case study research. Over ten years (2007-2017) one women was convicted for rape and four were put before court for sexual assault (one of these four was found not guilty). Of these four convicted (one rapist and three sexual assaults) who were found guilty, only two had to serve a sentence in prison. In three of the four cases, the woman was caught because there was also a man involved in the crime.

We have a long way to go, knowing that at least 25% (and probably more) of the rapists/pedo's are women.

[–]hygienedeficient 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Need to link the actual report/study because this sounds off.

When I was a child I was molested by two different people growing up. It was reported when I was 18 in the 1980's. It was discounted as a lie as I reported women. They both walk free today.

Close the sentencing gap!!!

[–]itchyotcthy 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Does anyone know if employees in such jobs - working with human beings not of legal age - are given training about the legal implications of their actions if they have sex with 'not of legal age'?

Or, even training about 'be aware of your emotions and if you decide to follow 'what you think is fun' and are caught you will go to jail or have your career wrecked of face public backlash?

Some countries have policies/schemes in place where people working with Children have to go on a police register. They are normally checked before they start such a position and then the police monitor for any known activity. It is not perfect but it better than nothing.

And as citizens we need to start complaining to Politicians that we are not happy when we see men sentenced differently to women, otherwise nothing will change!!!!

[–]CatManDontDo 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yes. As a teacher I have to take a 2 hour course before the start of every school year.

Granted it's not the most comprehensive thing and after 10 years it hasn't changed much except adding stuff about online harassment and abuse. More of a CYA thing for the schools but it is there.

[–]itchyotcthy 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

ok. thank you. Just wanted to know..

[–]wh_atsuperother10_9 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

I happened to come across this article just the other day when it was first published; it honestly simultaneously irked me and disgusted me, as the language that this sexual abuser used in reference to the boys she abused apparently 'wanting it' because they are "horny", "hormonal", "flirty", and "flirtatious" ... it honestly just goes through me when an adult speaks of a minor like that; she ought to be ashamed of herself.

[–]Nihi1986 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She's probably more childish than any of those students, honestly.

[–]K3ZH39 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

She’s only 25. She literally could’ve gotten with an 18 year old who would’ve most likely had a baby face but legally be an adult, and although there would be a big age gap, it’s not too big since she’s also young. Although in the UK, 16 is the age of consent but it would be considered creepy if any full grown adult gets with a 16 year old.

[–]Slappinbackurinsults 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

finally... SOME progress at last

[–]ZangryGrapes 37 points38 points39 points 4 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

She is nothing without her makeup

[–]Skinnyguy202 29 points30 points31 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

It doesn’t really matter whether she has makeup or not, she will still be a disgusting pedophile, and child groomer regardless of her looks.

[–]ZangryGrapes 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

agreed. Just tryna make fun of her for being a pedo

[–]Skinnyguy202 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, definitely. I get it. I was just putting it out there

[–]nomdeprune 16 points17 points18 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

What on Earth does that have to do with anything? Surely the relevant point here is that the Sun bothered to include the glamour photos in an article which is about a woman's criminal behaviour.

[–]ZangryGrapes 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Just tryna insult her for being a pedo. Whenever I see a criminal on TV, I always insult them for something

[–]Vivaelpueblo 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

To be fair she's almost unrecognisable without her make-up so publishing what she probably looks like 95% of the time makes sense.

[–]JasePearson 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This right here. I read the article and came over to the comments because I found it very interesting that they'd use those pictures alongside her mug shot. I'm infuriated by this woman, but I won't fuck around and say that I didn't find her attractive in the first picture, which I think is the whole point of The Sun putting it there.

[–]VeteranOfDepression 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Makeup or not, she's not attractive

[–]ZS_1171 -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]True_Statistician267 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Finally an article that describes a woman as a pedophile normally they say stupid bs like fell in love with and engaged in a sexual relationship with a 13 year old boy or some other such garbage. Here’s the long and the short of it a child does not have the capacity to see the magnitude of how unequal and emotionally manipulative what is being done to them is they lack the mental capacity, maturity, and perspective to engage with an adult as an equal intellectually sexually or emotionally that’s why it so monstrous it’s taking advantage of a child and leaving them mentally scarred. When it’s a man is with an underage person they call him what he is a pedophile as they should. With women they always try and mischaracterize it as something else our media needs to call this out way more often.

[–]yes1263343 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Crazy is not enough to define this girl, honestly. And she even played the fake 'I'm pregned' card to prevent the poor boy from leaving her.

[–]UnitedTrenton12 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

*She will be a Registered Sex Offender indefinitely and will be subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for 10 years after she is released from prison.

She has also been issued with a Restraining Order to last indefinitely, prohibiting her from any contact with the initial victim and several other people, and from entering specified areas.*

If this is true it’s a good thing that she have this on her record a rapist don’t deserve a second chance

[–]Reddit_Sux_Hardcore 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She is yummy.

But yea, a pedo is someone who is into children younger than 12, actually.

[+]Greg_W_Allan -13 points-12 points-11 points 4 years ago* (7 children) | Copy Link

Ironic. First time I've seen the word used for a female perp and she's not a paedophile anyway. Victim is not pre-pubescent.

edit:- To the idiot downvoters maybe you should look up the actual definition. The vast majority of folk get this wrong and it is not helpful. If the woman in this case is any sort of "phile" it is hebephile.

[–]itchyotcthy 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

could you say more about what and why you have posted what you have!

What is a perp?

"Victim is not pre-pubescent." Please give further definition or links to what you are saying here.

Thank you.

[–]Greg_W_Allan 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Perp = perpetrator.

Paedophiles are attracted to pre-pubescent children. The victim in this case is an adolescent. The correct term is hebephile.
