When metoo was at it's peak ,i read a story about a model who accused a producer for sexual assault, she explained they kissed on a cruise and he took her into a room and she felt uncomfortable when he locked the door and kissed and he wanted to have sex but she was scared and panicked ,told him to wait she needs to use toilet and left him. That was her story for how she survived getting assaulted. I was like where is the assualt , the guy publicly apologized but lost his reputation.

She says the senator took off his blazer, rolled up his sleeves and made coffee while they continued to talk.

“Then, in an instant, it all changed. He plopped down to my right, put his left arm around my shoulder, and kissed me, pushing his tongue into my mouth, pressing me back on the sofa.

“I was so utterly shocked, I pushed him away. All I wanted was for the last 10 seconds to be erased.”

Abedin writes that the senator seemed surprised but apologized and said he had “misread” her “all this time”. As she considered how to leave “without this ending badly”, she writes, the senator asked if she wanted to stay.

“Then I said something only the twentysomething version of me would have come up with – ‘I am so sorry’ – and walked out, trying to appear as nonchalant as possible.”

Abedin writes that she kept away from the senator “for a few days” but then ran into him on Capitol Hill, nodding when he asked if they were still friends."

This is why I hate it when someone (typically on reddit, but could be anywhere) tells a story that includes the phrase "I was raped", "I was sexually assaulted", or any similar phrase without giving any details as to what happened that they have decided to use that label to describe.

For starters, some people use "rape" and "sexual assault" interchangeably. Some women could have had the exact same experience that Ms. Abedin described but call it "rape". Others could have the exact same experience and call it "an awkward moment" or even "the time I unintentionally lead on a Senator".

So when someone says "I was sexually assaulted", I have precisely zero idea of what actually happened to them.

And for good measure and equality, I'm equally skeptical when someone says "I was falsely accused of rape" with no further details. I need some additional information to help me understand why you're assessing it as a false accusation. Like what was the accusation and who was told? And more importantly, what caused the false accusation? Was it mistaken identity? Did you never have sex with the girl and she's just a lying bitch? Did you have sex with her and there is disagreement as to consent? Details matter.

I hate sexual assault and creepy behavior, but this really seems borderline. Seems like the guy legitimately thought he was going to get some. Now I don’t know if he was 50 or 80 or whatever. He kissed her, she said no and left. He was surprised and apologized. I tried to kiss a girl once at a party in college, I went for it and at the last minute she gave me her cheek. She said sorry no and walked away. So if I had connected with her lips then I assaulted her?
