In my younger days, I remember pre-gaming a friend's house and a couple of the women going out with us were still getting ready. I remember one of them asking another if she "looked hot," and her friend affirmed. Tight dress, boobs popping, you know the "going out" look. Then not long into the night, I heard her complaining about some "gross guy" who was "trying to talk to her," and talking about other "creeps" she'd run into that night. Well, if you don't want attention, don't dress in a way that will bring you that attention you don't want! I guess the key here is she wanted attention but ONLY from the guys she wanted it from. The hypocrisy was astounding.

A study in a feminist journal a few years ago was investigating employees opinions related to the change in the office space. Basically, they used to be in separate offices and the organisation decided to move to an open space office building. They interviewed the employees and found out that women felt compelled to dress up and take more care about gow they looked. On the other hand, men couldn't care less and they did not make any remarks related to how women should look or dress. To my surprise, the authors decided that this was a sign of male oppression and that women were forced to change their clothes because of men... And the truth is: nobody gives a fuck anymore... I see women dressed like shit every day and I don't even bother to look at them.

A little shop here I used to work had a food truck colloquially known as a roach coach stop by in the mornings driven by a woman who wore short shorts and a halter tops so tight you could see her cunt lips, pubic hair and bumps on her nipples through them. I don’t totally agree with this, it overlooks a basic fact. The Sexually revealing dress equivalent for men falls more on the side of pricey threads, fancy watches, big words, a nice car, and a shit eating confident grin.

Women don’t have the same turn ons as gay men. Yes, they like men’s bodies, height, faces, etc but not anything to the level of drooling over revealing dress. There’s a reason even buff guys don’t wear a bodybuilder’s skimpy tank top on a date with a woman.

This is something I argue often. Image is projected outwardly, it's a mean of communication. It's seldomly about feeling good about ourselves, and making ourselves feel good about others reactions ro our image, unless you're that guy who's never had a bath and people often mistakes for a rock and even though I'm not so sure.

I'm a woman, but I also think and don't blame others so I have no issues here. If I am flaunting and showing off my chest.. you know, like I look in the mirror and say "that's hot" before I leave, I would be an absolute moron to not think other people would have the same opinion.

And guess what, if I don't want that attention at all that day, I wear a t-shirt or a blouse that isn't low cut. And it's crazy, I get less attention. Go figure.

People don't gawk and lust over a Kia, they do gawk and lust over a Benz though. This is really not a hard concept.

But what it is, women WANT the attention, but half the reason they want it is to in fact be mad at you (men). It's like the old wives tale stuff where no matter what a man does he will be wrong. Same concept here, these women like this will not let you win no matter what, no matter how right you are or wrong they are. When it comes to sexuality most women, not even just feminists, will pull the most ridiculous shit just to be right and make you wrong. It's as old as time, and it's why women primarily do it with sex related items, it keeps the power on their side.

I am a dude who dress provocatively(rough sleeves, chain, glasses, hairstyles and showing my chest hair etc. Switching formals and casuals between occasions. Yet it will be different). I always receive attention, smiles etc. I don't care what others think.

If you like dresses which makes you feel cute, that's ok. But bear mind of the attraction. It's not your fault and you shouldn't be deserve to be harrassed. But you're gonna get back handed whispers and judgemental people.

If I see you, I'll flirt, tease and make fun. As the other guys. Some make you interested(and comfortable, a dude like me) or some dudes creeps you. Face that.

I agree. Women in the workplace have been coddled beyond belief, and it's a detriment to competent professional women, who don't need to rely on extremely liberal dress codes and "women in X" feelgood groups.

Guys have had a pretty uniform dress code in the office for decades. Women routinely incorporate modern fashion and individual expression into the workplace, to say nothing of inherently sexual attire (Black yoga pants to work? Really?) Yet, who are you more likely to hear bitch and moan about dress codes?

Ugh this post is just so stupid and I can’t believe people are agreeing with this. The attention most women complain about is catcalling, lewd comments, and harassment (e.g. not accepting rejection). Most women are not complaining about guys politely hitting on them in bars, even if they’re not interested in them. They’re complaining about guys who come up to them and say stupid shit like “Wanna fuck?” or “I wanna motorboat then titties” or just straight up grab their ass. They’re complaining about guys who won’t leave them alone even after she told them she’s not interested. They’re complaining about guys calling at them from across the street with shit like “bring that ass over here baby!”.

For fuck’s sake. It’s not that hard. There’s a difference between being forward but polite, e.g. “Hey you look really nice what’s your name?” and being crude, e.g. “I wanna put my dick inside you so bad”. There’s a difference between gracefully accepting rejection when she tells you she’s not interested, e.g. “No problem, have a great night” and being a child about it, e.g. “Well fuck you you’re ugly anyway”, or being pushy e.g. “Come on don’t be like that give me a chance”. It really is not that hard to not be an actual creep.

This is the most braindead part of this entire post. Yes we do. It’s just what women typically find sexy in men (and hence how we dress for that) and what men typically find sexy in women (and hence how they dress for that) are two completely different things. What’s sexy on a man is a nice ironed shirt that complements your muscles, slightly tight. Maybe short sleeves in the summer to show off those muscles. A nice fitting pair of pants and nice shoes. Clean and well groomed facial hair and a nice haircut that show off your jawline. Maybe some nice accessories. When you dress to go out as a man and you look yourself in the mirror I guarantee you most of you are judging how attractive you will be to women, particularly those you want to attract. And just like you wouldn’t enjoy women constantly coming up to you with lewd comments, grabbing you, and harassing you from across the street, so too do women not enjoy that.

Can we please call out dumb shit like this on this sub. This is supposed to be a sub about highlighting and bringing attention to the issues and injustices men face, not about hypocritically bashing women for how they dress.

I don't know, I'd guess that it's less of an issue of who's hitting on who but the when and way in which it's done. You can shoot your shot without being labeled a creep as long as you're respectful and keep it in context. I mean, I sort of get the original point in that it's normal to be attracted to women but I don't really see how that correlates to feeling entitled to treating her differently based on your reaction/emotion to clothing?

I know you say you don't care what anyone says, but women can dress up for themselves and/or for others, the ideas aren't mutually exclusive. I don't think the point is that they don't necessarily want to be seen as sexy, but that women shouldn't be treated with less respect or have to cater to continuous unwanted flirting. I'm pretty shy around women, maybe it comes off as weird, but I think that how I feel about a certain girl doesn't mean I should let it affect the usual social platonic civility. I don't really believe that work should have such an overarching reach on individual expression but i understand that corporate wear serves to unite and represent a workplace.

I don't know, I'm sure men like that do exist as do the women in the situation you presented, maybe not as many, but yeah double standards in many aspects of dress exist that should be addressed. Clothing does act as a social language which also relies on shared understanding of meaning and context, maybe they're trying to change the meaning of certain clothing. Maybe there are people who play those sorts of games but they don't really seem to be worth paying attention to. Op I haven't been in your situation and I apologize if this comes off odd, I'd like to understand where you're coming from.

I've always taken the "It's okay to look, just don't touch" philosophy. As someone who enjoys women I find it can be difficult to look away when an especially bouncy lady walks past with her cleave displayed or even when scrolling through social media and seeing an attractive woman's bikini pics.

I don't think it's a crime to admire from a distance but the line is drawn at what actions you take afterwards. You don't harass, you don't point, you don't touch and if you're having a conversation with that person you don't draw attention to their own body and you keep goddamn eye-contact! (because not giving someone your full attention whilst having a conversation is just plain rude... no matter how bouncy they are).

As a woman, I can tell you how hard it is now to find clothes that are NOT sexy: there's always a cleavage, or transparency, or too thin (you can see the shape of your underwear), or it's too short (skirts, dresses, or even tops), or it's too tight, or the armpit hole is so large you can see your side-boobs/bra... Really, I always have to put another clothe below these so I don't feel like I show everything.

Exactly this. You don't see men wearing their bike compressions out in public, but the amount of women wearing those tight gym wear everywhere which accentuate their genitalia.

I now look down or away, it really disgusts me. They can't seem to understand that people should be decent in public.
