That doesn't change as you get older. This is manhood. "Never hit a girl' is a deeply ingrained society belief. Your teacher has a very high threshold before he will make a girl feel uncomfortable.

This sounds like a normal school in India. Us boys were beaten black and blue by our teachers for reasons - lower grades, fighting in class, showing up late for school, missing classes, talking in middle of lecture etc etc but never once there was any teacher who would physically punish girls. In terms of punishment we always like this one female teacher who was no fond of boys but was fair to both gender when it comes to punishment.

Once a new teacher (computer science) came to our school and the class did to him what we always did to new teachers. Finally he had had enough of our insolence and left class and came back with cane and delivered two-three blows on each students hands. His mistake ? He punished girls too. The girls ran off to Vice Principal and she called all girls and teacher and publicly made teacher apologize to girls and then was fired the same day. Whereas we have had teachers who have broken hands of, knocked out cold and punched students in face and yet never received any backlash. One time this teacher beat up so bad that in the process his wrist watch got damaged. It was so satisfying him looking at his damaged watch I barely contained by laughter. Looking back I'd say there was no other way to control us freaks. Somethings you can't fix with polite words.

Start taking notes: Include the date, time, location, topic, etc.

Establish a pattern of favouritism.

Report it to whomever is above your teacher. If they brush it off, go to the next higher person in the hierarchy.

Quietly record and compile proof of his favoritism. Report to to someone who will do something about it.

the thing about shutting boys up but not the girls is definitely a problem. however the free points thing might not be since he gave an explanation and it’s a thing a ton of teachers do so nobody gets upset and makes a huge deal or even complains to administration (of course i can’t tell the dynamic of a class that i’m not in, if you think he’s being sexist you should 100% talk to the principle)

One time me and my friend were accused of “harassing” girls when we were just talking amongst ourselves. My classroom has CCTV cameras and we were caught laughing but on an entirely diffrent issue and long story short my friend was basically outcasted from the class for a month (made him sit diffrently, recess with teacher) and i got off free luckily.

But the important thing is we did nothing and those five girls just grouped together on us randomly

Throughout my schooling, it was obvious many teachers preferred girls, but there were actually teachers who preferred the guys of the class too. It will just be like that. Never know what you’re gonna get

Welcome to real life.

I lost out on at least 2 promotions. Why? Because they went with someone underqualified who looked pretty.

The first time, I pulled up the Director about it, who got very nervous. But that didn't win me any points.

The second time, I didn't complain, even though I was accidently shown the interview scores with her saying 'I don't think I can do this job' in the interview. As it turns out, she was right. And I had her and her boss asking me to do some costings for her which I ignored as it wasn't my job (and if I had done it, I would have been responsible for budgeting and any underspend to plan).

I've seen it elsewhere. My current boss is great. But there was no way she wasn't going to get the job compared to the other (male) candidate.

We also have a very senior 9and pretty) boss, who volunteers for everything and then once she's got it, she 'delegates' it out. She panicked because she hadn't realised I had 2 weeks of annual leave booked and she didn't know how to calculate it by herself. As much use as a chocolate teapot.

Many teachers do this. I remember we were numbered off once for a pre-test quiz game. My team won, but bonus points on the test were given to everyone rather than the winning team. It isn’t really favoritism, as much as he wants people to try hard and be motivated. Although, this was the only example given and no one can really gather it from one piece of evidence like this. I suggest gathering more and taking it to someone higher up who can do something about him.

I would recommend to complain to person on higher position that they don't punish girls like they do to boys. Beating is common in India and you can fo nothing about it but you can at least make sure that girls should receive equal punishment and not only boys.

In PE this week and last week we were doing weights. The girls all had 5kg and the boys had 10-15. He keeps pointing out that the girls are doing better. If they have less weight it’s easier for them, obviously they’re doing better. There’s also like 3 boys(out of like 12)who were messing about a bit and he says “the boys aren’t taking this seriously.” Pretty annoying.

I had a teacher who was exactly the opposite.

We guys all got a B+ for raising our hands once and the girls had to write extra essays to even get a B-.

Some teachers are just pricks when it comes to favoring a gender. Lifes a bitch.

I don't think giving everyone points is playing favourites.

You want to talk real sexism, 30 years ago when I was in elementary school our gym teacher would divide the gym in half and the boys got to play soccer/ball hockey/kickball on one half and the girls were only allowed to skip rope or play hopscotch. Even as a 8 year old kid it rubbed me the wrong way.

Being a special needs boy like me in public school will suffer the worst part. In fact, I was removed from gym class because I was bullied by a girl and couldn't handle the situation. So they put me in a special needs gym which was small and suffocating with no windows. It's like a prison of white brick surrounded by nothing. There's a basket hoop and a storage closet. It was hell back then in 4th grade. Right now, I still hate school. I'm 27 years old with a B.A. in graphic design. When I looked up men's rights and the situation here, it made sense here. I will never put my children in public schools

Life is unfair sometimes. But maybe complain about it in front of the whole class when it happens. That should embarrass the teacher and get everyone thinking. Maybe it’ll stop
