I've always liked Katherine Hepburn's role in "On Golden Pond". I felt she was a great wife to someone who maybe wasn't really the nicest person all the time. It's easy to be a great wife when times and situations are great, it's not that easy when your husband is going through a transition. I think she showed a lot of qualities in that role that Laura Doyle talks about.

The Fun Stuff

Diana Wynne Jones - her female characters are wonderfully expressive and feminine, but not in a way that you'd really notice or that detract from the fantastical storylines. Adventure for the tomboy feminine-at-heart.

Susan Coolidge's What Katy Did. Femininity, charm, (and childlike fun!) from an older time.

Morte d'Arthur, all of it. Recommend Steinbeck's book. Redpill in folk tale form.

Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre, it is perfection in the gothic romance genre. Everything comes good in the end.

The Hard Stuff

Ayn Rand understands and writes that the ideal man is a hero, and the ideal woman is a hero worshipper, and she embodies this in her work. If you like to keep your reading politics free, this isn't for you.

Ernest Hemingway - he understands masculinity down to a T, and how it interfaces with femininity (or more often for poor Hemingway, fails to). War, hardship, man's man stuff. If you like your reading lighthearted and not depressive-alcoholic-fodder, this isn't for you.

Movies and Shows: Mona Lisa Smile, Love Finds You in Charm, basically anything from the Hallmark Channel, if that's your niche. New-ish shows like Army Wives or The Good Witch or Friday Night Lights. Older shows like Bewitched and I Love Lucy.

The romance genre has a specific subgenre starring alpha males, which can be fun to read if you're looking for fiction. Obviously only do so if you can keep a good head on your shoulders and temper your expectations. Otherwise, I highly recommend Marry Him: the Case for Settling for Mr. Good Enough. Despite the provocative title, it's a great read about being realistic in the dating world.
