42M and in the middle of my divorce. We decided to divorce around Thanksgiving, and I think both of us were so excited to move on to our next phase of life, we’ve hit the accelerator on the divorce process. We should be finalized next month. I can’t wait.

My STBXW took the kids away for Christmas. I knew I’d miss them. They’ve been gone for about 8 days now, and I’ve missed them desperately and insanely. I haven’t missed my wife for one second. Not one.

I’ve actually enjoyed a lot of solo time. In between the deep longing for my children, I’ve gotten a ton accomplished. I slept in every day. I was productive. I had time to hang out with friends and family. I hung out alone. It’s been a nice little escape for me.

And I’m so excited to know that I get to do this every-other-weekend now. And I’ll have my kids 50% of the time, so I know I won’t have the endless time and productivity I’ve had this week, but I will have a lot more free time than I did living with my wife and my failing marriage. My marriage was so time-consuming, so high-maintenance, so tenuous and fragile. I had to devote a lot of time and emotional energy to dealing with her, and now, that energy can be used for other things.

I already feel my confidence and my happiness returning. I’m picturing a happier life, just weeks away when the papers are signed and official and my wife is out of my house.

It’s a new life guys, and it’s right around the corner.
