Hey all. I am a guy with diagnosed Aspergers autism, or as it's called now, ASD I. A lot of the coming things will be subjective and anecdotal experience but I hope you can see my points nontheless. I also have a few acquaintances (I wouldn't say friends, more like people I talk/used to talk with very scarcely) who told me the same things.

I was about 21, at which age I only played video games and read books, when I started wondering why people around me were forming relationships and I wasn't. And long story short, I found TRP and tried to apply it. Which is something that looked plausible to me because it's like a "rulebook" of sorts, rules being something that people on the spectrum generally tend to like.

I am currently 27 and still never had anything with a woman. Not sex, no kissing, nada.

So anyway. I took the approach of going to the gym 6 times a week, which I still do. For YEARS. I saw all this talk about building discipline and becoming more of a man but honestly, it was just grueling each and every day and I left exhausted from overstimulation and having to recoup for over half an hour in bed after each time I went. And after doing this for years, I honestly don't quite get it. Like, I got more muscle now but I work a desk job, so what am I supposed to do with it? I guess I can lift heavier things now but how is that supposed to be life changing? It's one of the parts of TRP I still don't get and I feel like it wasted more time than what I got as reward (said reward not being really applicable).

Furthermore, I tried cold showers, nofap, meditating, all that stuff. And while meditating helps my overstimulation a bit sometimes, I still don't get the reason behind the other things after trying them for months. Again, "building discipline". How is that supposed to help you? It sounds like there being a scoreboard of god keeping track of your discipline points and if you got enough you get to turn them in for a reward.

And after all that, I tried to make a "business". I had an idea for a site related to gaming with some (I still think pretty neat) ideas. I tried to collaborate with a designer but we had constant misunderstandings and our conversations, he said, were pretty dry and he didn't have a lot of fun working with me, since I just talked about dry facts and implementation ideas. So that didn't work out.

And lastly, I tried cold approaching and uh...I don't really want to talk about it, actually. In fact, I almost got the police called on me, despite me not trying to be hostile or annoying or anything. I stopped after that.

The few acquaintances I have from past gaming experiences, who were also on the spectrum, don't even have jobs. They are either absorbed into fantasy or have burning passions related to collecting or certain types of games. They can`'t apply that to professional fields though and often crumble under the pressure.

At work I still am very nervous, despite being 6'2'' and in decent shape. I often stutter and move in odd ways (at least I was told I do) and speak in a weird either too rude or too polite way and don't have much body or facial expression.

Honestly, all in all, the times I have been trying to adhere to TRP principles have been the most confusing and dreadful time of my life. I actually felt dead inside and it landed me nowhere. I actually got into danger of getting the police called on me once, like I said. I didn't even want to be annoying or bothersome. And I came to the conclusion, for me personally, that maybe I should just "be myself" and just go the way of the dodo with my genes. Anyway, that's all. Hope you got some insight into a person with autism trying his best at TRP...for years.
