The problem with "stare rape" (as some people call it) is that it is entirely up to the "victim" to claim they "felt violated". No matter what actually happens, all that matters is how the "victim" feels. So, it is another triumph for feelings over facts, since it is impossible to disprove that your glance wasn't taken by the "victim" as "stare rape" that terrorised her.

Female here. Returned from the airport this morning. In the train there was a guy with his friend. And there were other women. The guy was glancing at me and the others from time to time and nothing. No bad intentions, no complaints, no helpline. When he got off, he gave some coins to a homeless woman and disappeared from sight. Noone felt threatened. I was also looking for the posters about no staring, at least in that wagon didn't find one.

To be completly honest as a man the reason why i will oppose this sort of policies with my life is because i feel terror to think that im going to have to live in a world where i have to be constatly 24/7 nonstop carefully terrified of with where my eyes are pointing to at any point in time.
In a technical sense the problem is that you simply cannot objectively prove that someone is harrasing you by looking at you or if that person is just looking at that direction or to you for any other reason.
Is my right as a human being to point my eyes anywhere.
And the fact that i even have to explain this sends a chill to my spine.
And that without the obvious counterpoint wich is that in a gender fair society those policies woudl also ahve to be applied to benefit men in the same way, that si women not looking at me and harrasing me as well, the policy itself is misandristic by only appling to protect exclusevily women in the first place.

I saw the poster on the underground the other week before the topic you linked, my experience was as follows:

The tube has transverse seating so you are facing at someone, I say facing because I have been at work for 9 or 10 hours and I'm not really processing whats going on in front of my eyes is more a zombie state.

And then I look up and I'm being accused of a crime. Well hopefully no one would think that but I decided to look at the ceiling for the rest of the trip.

I kind of find it hard to take the view that it is lightly to be equally applied by BPT or any other police force in England and Wales, as one that people seriously believe. And therefor think that it is reasonable to consider this in the preview of Men's Rights.

There is no such law. Where is this law? Can you give a link? The fact that it was on a poster doesn't mean that the law exists and is in effect.

This is an arbitrary and capricious law that will do more harm than any prevention it seeks to do. Not only does this further drive a wedge between people more than draconian mask mandates did, but will further alienate men from women more than the heavy hand of the MeToo radicals. I would love to see men drown the London police with texts and complaints of women making "unwelcomed and salacious" eye contact. It's up to the "victim" to define it and this "crime" is VERY subjective. No wonder dating and birth rates have declined in the UK. Men are tired of dealing with radicalized feminists and their simp and thirst bucket male cheerleaders.

This law will be more used to persecute ugly guys than actual harassers. It's impossible to prove for a guy that he was lost in vision or she was in his line of sight.

In gyms this is already happening. TikTokers secretly put their phone on recording and later crops that timeframe of the video when the guy looks up for split seconds. This law will shut down all defamation cases with the justification that they were recording a crime.

Nazis also used to shoot Jews when they looked at them instead of looking down.

It is a mens rights issue because it is certainly going to be disproportionately inflicted on men. And it is gross overreach by the authorities. There is no clear definition of what is going to constitute “unlawful staring”, which means it’s entirely subjective.

It's LITERALLY systemic sexism. It's applicable to only one gender. Only one gender can be a victim and only the other gender can be the perpetrator. That is a whole issue in itself and it completely counter intuitive to the "sex equality" That's been pushed for a decade now.

The other issue is that it's completely subjective. I get stares all the time, most people do, and I think it's bonkers to criminalise a basic human function. Someone can make up an entire scenario with no evidence, and the "perpetrator" can be punished for it. Its susceptible to abuse.

Tldr; it will be abused. It is counter intuitive to any gender equality.

With men constantly feeling the lack of support or more in general having a massive biased against them in the court of law women can use this as a weapon extremely easily . As a man who often finds him self staring into space this new law is truly scary and a massive blow to Mens rights .

How would you prove an offense even happened? This seems like a policy that can be easily abused. People's goodwill is a wonderful thing but NEVER bank on it, just because most people won't misuse it doesn't mean nobody will. I just can't see this as practical or even useful.

Its patently absurd, authoritarian to an extreme degree, staring is a harmless act, they are attempting to justify through unsubstantiated correlative harmful acts? This is an attempt to give the government to try any and all for crime for ulterior self centered motives. If you honestly think you or anyone else has a right to determine what someone see's and how long the see it, your an enemy plain and simple your tyrannical disposition cannot be tolerated. The UK in particular seems to be losing more and more of of its democratic facade. Americans and other countries need to wake up to reality and realize this is the looming threat to us all. This isn't even just a men's rights issue, this is a rights issue.
