When I got divorced, my ex used my child as a pawn. I can absolutely understand the suicidal impulse men feel. You have no power in the courts, and the bias towards women is devastating.

[–]gckman915 189 points190 points191 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Hence why men get driven to suicide. Yet when they do commit suicide, they are seen as selfish.

[–][deleted] 16 points17 points18 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I absolutely HATE it when people call suicide 'selfish'.

Like really? The person who was in so much pain and felt hopeless to the point that they killed themself , was the selfish one?

[–]MisterDamage 73 points74 points75 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Well of course. What kind of selfish monster would avoid paying child support by killing themselves?

[–]gckman915 47 points48 points49 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The kind from whom everything was taken, i.e. house, wages, dignity while the other parent has already a reliable and steady source of income and doesn't need his child support money.

[–]MisterDamage 26 points27 points28 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What, all those things are more important than being a life support system for a wallet? those MONSTERS!

[–]elebrin -5 points-4 points-3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And, of course, it’s all the fault of guns because if we say that we can blame something easy rather than look at the actual cause.

Nah, don’t fix the real problem, take away the only escape that the emotionally tortured see for themselves. We can’t have people ending the torment we have ordained for them early, after all.

[–]TurbulentPractice773 86 points87 points88 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Women are conditioned by the courts to always be the victim and therefore have no fear of being held accountable for thier behavior....its terrifying how they can literally make up anything. " I don't feel safe" is the magic phrase to make the judge rule in thier favor. I've lived this exact scenario.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

"I feeeel like I am losing this case so now I suddenly remember that he touched our child one time. Sorry but I don't have any details because I don't want to get trapped in my lie."

[–]TurbulentPractice773 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

This is a terrifyingly true statement, and the Police and District attorneys will believe every ridiculous word. While the man loses everything defending himself.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The thing is, making that claim cannot be undone. Even if she retracts her statement, the child still has to be taken away and tested (which is a VERY invasive procedure) and questioned by multiple professionals and put through counseling.

Women who make that claim are putting the child through a traumatic and life altering process, just to get back at their ex husband.

The rate of suicide for divorced men is 8 times higher. Divorce is a major cause of male suicide. Better custody laws would probably reduce this. I can't imagine the despair of an international abduction.

The rate of suicide for divorced men is 8 times higher.

Is that relative to divorced women or undivorced men?

[–]OldEgalitarianMRA 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

https://jech.bmj.com/content/57/12/993

[–]LettuceBeGrateful 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Holy shit, it's even worse:

After taking into account other factors that have been reported to contribute to suicide, divorced men still experienced much increased risks of suicide than divorced women. They were nearly 9.7 times more likely to kill themselves than comparable divorced women (RR = 9.68, 95% CI = 4.87 to 19.22). Put another way, for every divorced woman that committed suicide, over nine divorced men killed themselves.

[–]OldEgalitarianMRA 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Our society tells us that getting married is a net benefit for men. I've even read articles that indicate men benefit more than women.

When considering marriage, men have to weigh the 8 times increase risk of suicide after divorce, of which half of men will suffer, compared to the 1-2% decrease risk of suicide for the half of men who don't suffer from divorce.

[–]MooreanShiftingUrArg 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I've read that the 50% divorce rate is a myth, and most studies show it's around 25%. Still pretty shitty odds though. Don't marry if you're in the West or India.

[–]OldEgalitarianMRA 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Almost 50 percent of all marriages in the United States will end in divorce or separation. 7. Researchers estimate that 41 percent of all first marriages end in divorce.

Reference

[–]MooreanShiftingUrArg 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Oh okay. The source I read the proportion of marriages in 70s and 80s that reached at least the 25th anniversary. Which clearly is going to be less (30%) than divorcing before you die.

[–]NJ_Mets_Fan 70 points71 points72 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Yet here we are with so many women crying “amber heards case has set women back generations, now no woman will feel safe ever speaking up” im sorry so a man cant even win with evidence in court where a judge decrees the male is the victim, yet everyone wonders why men kill themselves. The world needs to wake up to this

[–]needalife94 18 points19 points20 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

A female judge at that too. So it's not even a women vs men thing !!!!!

[–]masterdarthrevan 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Good thing it was a female judge otherwise it would be patriarchy this and patriarchy that ... Ooooh the biases we can't have that either.

My child's mom (never married), deliberately tried to break me mentally, so I would. She wanted to collect Social Security Check, as it was much larger than the child support I was paying.

She would threaten me with *I am going to accuse you of molesting her." She would call up family and tell them I was into child porn, I was abusing them, that I never gave her any help. Ask them for money.

I had to send an Aunt copies of cancelled checks.

She denied me access for year's, and worse denied my mother from seeing her only grandchild.

My mother recently passed, and one of the things she wanted before she died was she her. But they refused.

I hate both of them now with a passion.

They did have the audacity to ask if they where left anything in the will.

I know how that felt. I have come close a couple of times to saying fuck it; however, I refused to let them win.

Sorry for the rant.

[–]dandanmoo0 49 points50 points51 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I hope this woman rot in hell

Please if this kind of stuff happens record your calls and conversations

[–]medicwhat 29 points30 points31 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I have zero contact with them for year's. It is tough, small community. I have a public job, I work as a paramedic.

Alot of anger issues over it, and therapy is helping.

Suicide is the main cause of death for men and in the UK alone over 60% of men cause suicide. But for some reason, no one cares.

[–]Proud-Astronomer-757 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

UK can get lonely as fuck I feel. I Live alone, deal with shit alone, my family sort of shut down if I bring up any issue. I’m the only son. I use my imagination to deal and cope.

Any man that dies after a situation like this should be considered murdered.

[–]nacho-chonky 46 points47 points48 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

No this should be considered kidnapping, taking the kids away from a parent is kidnapping

[–]Isaaker12 16 points17 points18 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

A woman in Spain was reprieved recently by the government after she was sentenced to prison for kidnapping her kids. I guess the s is indeed silent.

[+]stewiehockey13 -36 points-35 points-34 points 4 years ago (34 children) | Copy Link

So you want to charge his ex with murder?

[–]oceansarevast 45 points46 points47 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yes

[–]stewiehockey13 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So if my boyfriend breaks up with me and I kill myself, he gets charged with murder? If I get downsized, my boss is charged w murder? If hospital bills bankrupt me and I kill myself, the hospital is charged w murder?

[–]Fearless-File-3625 19 points20 points21 points 4 years ago* (30 children) | Copy Link

That's probably too much but I believe she should be charged with at least involuntary manslaughter.

[–]OldEgalitarianMRA 37 points38 points39 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

There is such a thing as "Judicial Abuse". Using the legal system to abuse your ex. This happened to me. It was very expensive and disruptive.

[–]Greg_W_Allan 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Using the legal system to abuse your ex.

It's designed that way. The process is the punishment.

[–]ABeeBox 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Was gonna say the same thing. Not murder, but definitely manslaughter. Is it even legal to abduct your partner's kids?! Surely shouldn't be! Harmful for the kids and is abusive to the other partner.

[–]stewiehockey13 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (26 children) | Copy Link

If my bf breaks up w me and I kill myself, does he get charged w manslaughter? If a man rapes a women and she reports him and he kills himself, does the girl get charged w manslaughter? If my husband gambles away our savings and I kill myself, does he get charged w manslaughter?

[–]Fearless-File-3625 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago* (25 children) | Copy Link

No for all.

Let's assume that in all those cases the cause of the suicide is the action taken by other person. Everyone has the right to choose who they want to associate with and the right to report a crime, I believe no one should be liable to the damages caused by exercises these fundamental rights.

Abducting someone's child is not a right and so the woman in the question should be held liable to any and all damages caused by her actions. That includes the emotional damage that caused the man to commit suicide.

[–]stewiehockey13 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (24 children) | Copy Link

If a man kidnaps my kids to Switzerland and I kill myself should he get charged w manslaughter ?

[–]Fearless-File-3625 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (23 children) | Copy Link

yes

[–]stewiehockey13 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (22 children) | Copy Link

So what other instances would constitute as manslaughter

[–]Fearless-File-3625 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago* (21 children) | Copy Link

Reddit is acting super weird but I have explained my decisions in a previous comment.

Let's assume that in all those cases the cause of the suicide is the action taken by other person. Everyone has the right to choose who they want to associate with and the right to report a crime, I believe no one should be liable to the damages caused by exercising these fundamental rights.

Abducting someone's child is not a right and so the woman in the question should be held liable to any and all damages caused by her actions. That includes the emotional damage that pushed the man to commit suicide.

As for other instances, encouraging someone to commit suicide, some kind of neglect that results in loss of life etc.

[–]stewiehockey13 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (20 children) | Copy Link

So if someone steals my favorite necklace? Because stealing isn't a right? They get charged with manslaughter? If someone rapes me they get charged with manslaughter too?

[–]Qantourisc 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Why is a question for clarification downvoted ?

[–]dukesaces 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Isn't that child abduction? He should have contacted the Swiss authorities and had his wife thrown in prison for child abduction rather than end his life :(

[–]Alderaansranger 15 points16 points17 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

And this is one of many reasons why I don’t want to have children and never will. I will not have someone I love used as leverage against me. We should all just stop having kids and let the human race die out. Cancerous species we are.

[–]needalife94 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Same bro !!! This is one of the main reason why I don't want kids. A couple others too.

[–]StingRayFins 14 points15 points16 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You lose your time, money, and health slaving for your family. Then your wife divorces you and takes your kids away from you and your money.

You're left with nothing. No mental health, no wife, no money, no children, no dignity. I totally get why men do it.

Sad world.

“Her” choice to abort, or her children,
“His” child support payments,
“Her” life priorities
“His” absconding abandoning fatherhood.

What a brilliant hypocrisy driven strategy by the ruling elite/ state cartel to unbalance divide and destroy the family balance of male and female.

To truly not be for or against so that truth & reality may be explored to its depths.

But no.

Funny how even with a note stating clearly why he did it, it's allegedly, and when a woman travels with their children, it's her children. Very amusing how this responsability thing can be switched on and off when convenient

[–]TheeBattleMedic 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Is this the male privilege they talk about?

[–]Ya5uo 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I would to if my children moved to Switzerland

[–][deleted] 36 points37 points38 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I wouldn’t. There’s no way I’m letting some woman hold the cards to my life. I’m saying this from experience. I’m facing a similar situation and I’ve been Internalising and rationalising it for a while now. I’m in my 40s my eldest is 14 and my youngest 9. By the time they are 18 I’ll still be young enough to be a part of their life if they decide they want to come back and stay with me. It’s not the end of the world! There will come a time. My policy with my wife has been one of utter indifference. Yeah, you should take them etc. I can’t afford to keep you all here on minimum wage anyway. The result was her realising she doesn’t hold the cards and cannot manipulate me with them! This is important! The result: she finally breaks and says she can’t do it. Doesn’t want them not to have me in their lives, crying her eyes out. We are still divorcing but she wants to make an effort to stay here. I don’t recommend this to everyone as I was fully prepared to lose my kids to another country and I wasn’t trying to make her stay. I just wanted her to know she can’t manipulate me and doesn’t hold the cards on that score. My attitude was a white lie. I don’t want to see my kids go but there’s no way I’m killing my self. Why give the bitch that satisfaction and then she moves on to new beta provider daddy number two. Sod that! Also, why devastate your kids with not only being taken away from you but you dying too! I couldn’t do that to them.

Best not to. Get some court ruling that she kidnapped your children or something and lock her into Switzerland. Might as well not make her life easier if she's being like that.

What am I supposed to conclude from this if I know nothing about the man and nothing about the woman?

[–]rosewiththornzzz1 points 4 years ago [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link

This is absolutely awful. Especially for those poor little kids who now have to grow up without a father.

I remember watching my father drink his life away until I was 7. He finally cleaned up then. But before I was born, he lost a custody battle with his ex for his two sons. He hasn’t seen them in 24 years now. But not long after he lost he tried to take his life, bull riding with his hands tied behind his back. He was lucky to have survived. But losing that custody battle, losing his parental rights, he now has not seen or spoken to one of them since then, and has only spoken to one on occasion but not for years now. It’s been horrible to see him still suffer because of this. So things like this post break my hearf
