I (31m) have realized I do not want to be married to my (31f) wife, or married in general. She wants kids and a family, but the chemistry is just not there. I got married to extend her visa and get her green card because I did enjoy dating her and I would have felt guilty like I abandoned her if I just let her go back home.

We’ve been married 4 years, no kids. I make 160k and she makes about 30k. We have a joint savings account which I’m not particularly tied to, but both of my parents passed away over the past few years and I’ve been left with some stocks and a property. The stocks were moved into a shared brokerage account with my wife and I am worried those are going to be contested.

We have no joint assets outside of the two accounts. We rent an apartment in both our names, and I pay for pretty much everything (she has her own bank account she saves in). Our one car is in my name and paid off be me alone.

I have reached out to an attorney, but won’t have a meeting until next month. Just looking to see if someone had experience here that might help me understand what im about to go through if this all goes ahead. Also, any general advice about handling the situation.
