I just had a debate in facebook about this. It was with my real world account, so I didn't pursue too much. It started when I replied to a post that a feminist has posted, saying that all men should be forced to have mandatory vasectomies at birth now. I said that the female equivalent of vasectomies is IUDs or some other kind of permanent birth control. I also said that if women are allowed to have abortions and also give up the baby (safe haven laws), then men should be able to give up all rights and responsibilities to a baby (Legal Paternal Surrender).

I received an unrestrained deluge of hate. They called me an incel, deadbeat, mansplainer, useless, autistic, not fit to reproduce, moron and a bunch of other names, when I did not make any personal attacks. It was mostly women and some men. I noticed that they didn't accept the logical equivalencies between things. They said the man is responsible for every birth, and he should wrap if he didn't want a pregnancy. When I said the female also has the capability to avoid pregnancy by using contraceptives, I got called names.

I haven't had this kind of discussion in dating apps yet. It hasn't come up. I'm debating whether to be honest about where I stand. But I am trying to be serious about having a family and a trustworthy long term partner, so going in to the future, I don't want to lie.

This just reinforces my idea to have children by paying a surrogate mother and have a family that way. Some men (especially gay couples) seem to have success doing it this way. I don't want to be tied to a woman that acts like a selfish baby and sees only her side of the story, especially when the laws are against me. And I've also seen many older ladies and single mothers on dating apps, even though I haven't dated them, so hopefully I can have various low-effort non-committal casual relationships, even after having children through a surrogate mother. I get to avoid the risks of marriage too.

Both sides have good points, but it’s important to remember the root of the issue. What is so bad about abortion? It isn’t a sentient human by the time procedure is done. It’s barely even a creature and no one cares about killing animals, so there’s a whole side of this debate I don’t see talked about nearly enough.

I'm all for abortion. People should have maximum autonomy over their bodies, regardless of their sex. An embryo isn't a baby, no matter how much people want to believe as much. The health and wishes of the mother trumps the desires of strangers to police the weeks old contents of her womb. I don't how people can be all pissed off about circumcision and a mans right to choose and also reject a woman's bodily autonomy.

I wouldn’t say the consequences for us are life ruining as nothing happens physically and the financial consequences are kind of equalized. If the man doesn’t want the baby and she aborts, only she’s eating the cost of the abortion plus the physical pain of it.

If he doesn’t want the baby and she keeps it only she is suffering the physical risks and she’s eating the upfront costs. Once the child is here they’re both splitting the costs to raise one.

What women should do is be more selective of men. If they still want sex only sleep with men who are infertile/got a vasectomy and use spermicide, condoms, cycle tracking etc.

The trouble with the rape thing is…for actual rape absolutely yes but have you considered that false rape allegations are going to go into orbit and they are going to want to expand the definition.
