Maybe if pro-life people started fighting for Men's rights, they could possibly save a good chunk of lives that would have been aborted. Until men have some say in the life of their child, I don't give a fig about a woman's right to abort.

Allowing safe and legal abortions is an extension of the basic right of bodily autonomy. This isn't a privilege, it's merely respecting basic human rights.

EDIT: It's interesting seeing this downvoted so much for simply stating a fact.

For the record, I believe men should have the ability to opt out of financial and legal responsibilities for potential children. Women are making unilateral choices and that should come with the risk of unilateral responsibility. Men shouldn't be subsidizing women's choices.

However, abortion for women is an issue of bodily autonomy and not a privilege. You can make a moral argument if you want based on the religious idea of the sanctity of life, but that's irrelevant to this discussion because the legal argument is about bodily autonomy.

This post feels really petty. Abortion is a human right. I agree that through any legal process a man should be able to financially separate from mother and child if the mother proceeded with giving birth despite the father disagreeing.

That being said, the law will not fall in your favor unless you've been quite clear and deliberate with proof from the start that you do not want to father the child or be financially tied to them

Men naturally get to opt-out of ever having to be pregnant and ever having to be in the position to have to make such a choice.

To try to make a direct comparison is childish or in bad faith. "If I have to pay to support my own child, then women either shouldn't have bodily autonomy, or else I get to consider myself oppressed"

You're limiting your own rights by framing the world in such a hostile way. You can improve your own life dramatically by just finding a healthy outlet for all that frustration.

to play devils advocate, i’d want to ask at what point, if the father wants to terminate during the pregnancy but the mother doesn’t, then i believe he should have a say in child support. however, if a father pays child support as a result of custody matters and wanted the child in the first place, then it would be unfair to leave all the financial aspects to solely the mother
