The reason why it's normal to smile and laugh even when something isn't funny is to signal friendliness or general interest in some type of association or relationship (ie: friendship, workplace friends, friendly acquaintances, etc.) with that person. If you smile at someone, it gives that person more confidence and comfort around you. If you mean mug them, that strips them of confidence and comfort around you.

If you don't want someone to be around you, then feel free to not smile. But it is not the norm for the reason I just stated and it should not be the norm either for the reason I just stated.

Some guy gave me shit on another post for me saying that feminism is toxic to women's psyche and cognitive behavior... well isn't this post a prime example of it being toxic to women? It teaches them to be socially maladapted. And again, feel free to not smile at someone if you don't want them around you. But this idea that you should only smile when you're genuinely amused is just social suicide.

With that being said: it is cringey to ask someone "cmon, why didn't you laugh at my joke?"

Maybe it used to be that way, but now we are seeing unfair dehumanizing treatment to BOTH men and women. Men are seen as dicks and wallets by the misandrist women and women are seen as sex dolls and housewives by the misogynist men. The only difference is that women seeing men as disposable is seen by many in this society as empowering, but a man seeing a woman as disposable makes him an asshole. Also, misogynistic men are decreasing whereas misandrist women are only increasing.
