Masculinity and femininity are interesting. We know (as in, on a deep level) what they are, but we can't give a proper definition. Conversations about masculinity always go something like this:

Strawman 1: "Masculinity is being XYZ traits."

Strawman 2: "But can't women also have XYZ traits?"

Strawman 1: "Yes."

Strawman 2: "So why are they considered masculine?"

My current hypothesis is that masculinity and femininity are more about presence rather than personality.

The poems "A man's a man" by Robert Burns and "Your life is your life" by Charles Bukowski. I'm not sure either is exactly about masculinity as such but both resonate with me strongly. A particular quote by Benjamin Disraeli also comes to mind "Man is never so manly as when he feels deeply, acts boldly, and expresses himself with frankness and with fervor."

But what do you mean? What do these quotes convey? Like the first two, like the implication I got was from them was that the world is trying to prevent you from being or expressing masculinity but you are standing strong. Am I misunderstanding or is that what it means? If you do feel that, why do you feel that?
