My ex wanted out as much as I did I think, although I've thought about divorce before many times. But she would never have initiated unless I'd cheated. I'm glad I finally had the balls to do it, she's a terrible person and I deserve better.

Not uncommon, many women can never be the bad guy in the story so will deliberately cause drama to cause you to fuck up; so they have an excuse. It's like those women that talk about wanting an open marriage; they already have a guy lined up (or are fucking) just don't want to have to hide it.

My ex just made my life absolute hell until I gave in and told her I wanted a divorce. I couldn’t say a word without starting a fight. Within a week she moved back home all the way across the US. She was looking for an excuse to go back home but needed me to validate the decision for her.

I don't buy it. More likely she wanted to fuck up so that you would fuck up - so that she could point to that and be free from your marriage.

I will say for me, I wasn't deliberately fucking things up to be free of my marriage. But I felt very trapped and depressed and in hindsight, I realize that I no longer cared if I fucked things up or fucked up my marriage (or anything to be honest).

Because nothing no longer mattered.
