Edit: Thanks folks. As suggested, I reminded myself that money and jobs come and go and prioritized time with my daughter. I've declined the consulting job, which I will admit was still much harder to do than I thought, but I think I always knew this was the right choice.

I'm also reminded that we've got some really great fathers on this sub!

TL;DR:

  1. EXW got remarried this past weekend. In Vegas. To a guy she's known less than 6 months. And he's moving in with her in April.
  2. Current and STBXGF is Certified Grade-A Batshit.
  3. Got some amazing job offers with some amazing drawbacks.
  4. 6yo daughter remains my guiding light in life, but not sure how good of an idea that is (related to work).

The EXW development is straight up lunacy to me, but the only impact on me is a push to upgrade my housing situation pronto in the event that the new living arrangement doesn't work out well for my daughter, who I fear *may* at some point need a place to hide/recover/seek shelter/live.

Current GF is a 7-layer-mental-health-issue burrito wrapped up in a Korean-Monica-Belluci-Looking tortilla. Manic depression, BDD, insane jealousy, and a sprinkling of daddy issues. As can be expected, she has had trouble accepting my single-dad situation, and the sex is insane.

I'm a supply chain consultant, so I do a lot of 1099 work. I have three opportunities that have all hit at once, and one of them is with a major consulting firm that will come with great money, but also require that I travel every week Sunday evening through Thursday evening. The other two are less money and professional growth, but much greater flexibility (meant: time with my kid). I'm not sure which way I will go.

The struggle for me is this: I want to spend as much time with my kid as possible now, knowing that over the next few years she's going to want to spend less and less time with me and more time living her own life. So do I:

  1. Accept that fact now, take the consulting firm gig and give up whatever weekdays I would have had with my daughter in exchange for socking away tons of cash and experience for later in our lives. This would also mean I wouldn't be able to be that place for her to seek shelter if life at her mother's place became unbearable. Or do I
  2. Take whatever jobs allow me to maximize my time with my daughter now, and give up the professional growth and greater income over the long term? The other jobs would let me stay as close to my daughter as I need, physically and time-wise.

All-in-all, I'm in a pretty good place in life 1 year after the divorce all things considered. I've got my own thoughts on the above of course, but this sub has always been a good sounding board.
