For you gents who have custody of your kid (or kids) on weekends but have also gotten back into dating, how have you balanced your time between the two without feeling guilty?

I get my daughter on weekends, and when we're together it's all about us time. Now that I've started dating again, I'm finding it very hard to pass on weekend time with my kid to go on a date, but at the same time, that is usually the only time that the current woman I'm dating has free. We've met a few times during the week, but it's just after work and we can't spend as much time as we'd like together.

I'm afraid that if I continue to be unavailable on weekends, this relationship isn't going to grow. On the other hand, I feel like a shitbag even considering the idea of giving up one of my two days a week with my daughter just to go on a date.

To her credit, the woman I'm dating is understanding and has made efforts to make the mid-week stuff work. But she's also made it clear that she's interested in doing a lot of stuff that's available on the weekends (jazz concerts in the park, summer festivals, stuff that'll take most of a day).

Edit: Thanks for straightening me out gents. That's what I love this sub.
