If we had some sort of statistical claim for frequency of corruption, I'd believe that.

I don't think it has to do with actual incidences of corruption, I think it's about the public's perception of how much corruption there it.

I remember a news stations did an experiment in a few major cities (New York, Chicago, and one other I think) where they had just normal-looking people find police on the streets or in their cruisers and turn in "lost wallets" with some id and money inside. They did a survey of their viewers and made their own predictions about how many wallets would be returned and how much money would still be inside them if they were. Needless to say, predictions were very, very negative.

As it turns out, 100% of the wallets were returned, with 100% of the money inside every one of them. One officer in New York payed out of his own pocket to mail a wallet back to its supposed owner in North Carolina.

Mostly all I'm saying is that I disagree with the assertion that people hate police officers because they hate men, or for similar reasons they supposedly hate men.

No this is an excessive force issue. And, if you want to win more rights for men, check the system so a cop just can't shoot somebody who is [apparently] unarmed.

Considering the timeline, that shooting happened extraordinarily fast so I'd argue it is excessive from what is being reported. But, the video is crap - we have a terrible angle, horrid lighting, and no indication if the suspect made any physical threats against the cop's well being. Perhaps he did, or he pulled a knife, in which case the "suicide by cop" argument gets very strong. But, from what I'm reading there's no case he pulled any weapons, so that hypothetical dies out... so again: excessive force tantamount to murder. If that wasn't a cop, this would be a cinch of a murder trial since there were tons of witnesses (as shown on camera).

Just assume the cop was a man for a second - would you all be so alarmist about men's rights if he just walked up and shot an unarmed homeless man? For all we know, he could be a socialized feminist - not much difference then. But despite what it could be and what the genders were, the fact that a cop just walked up, made a quick demand, then shot is very worrisome to me. That needs to be checked out and balanced accordingly, only then will MR win out, even if it's not blatantly pro men's rights. It's a win because it protects all of our rights - male and female alike. That's what I hope we're here for... or at least, that's what the A Voice For Men and MRM sites state their objectives are: true equality across the board; fix the injustices in the world.

Plus it looks better for us if we don't sound as reactionary as the radical feminist wing. Be reasonable, and reason tends to come to your side.
