Stephanie McKellop (Penn) is a teaching assistant at the University of Pennsylvania who discriminated against her male and white students by using what is called the Progressive Stack. This is not me interpreting her actions, she literally links to a Wikipedia article (nice job TA) detailing the progressive stack.

In her tweets, McKellop openly admits to calling on black students more often than "white men". She also claims that she has been called racist for doing this, and she blames "Nazis" for it. She is calling on her friends to send e-mails to the University of Pennsylvania to prevent her impending firing.

Her desperate tweeting is a far cry from her initial bravado when she was being attacked by these supposed Nazis.

They deleted everything, not fully understanding that I've assisted in 41 Title IX cases to date & I know well the power of #receipts.

This is addressing a Middle Eastern Ph.D student (no, not me) who called her out for being a racist. I won't link to the following because it includes the guy's name.

For y'all just tuning in: a PhD student got so mad that I prioritize Black students in class that they called it a human rights violation

She has since protected her account. The tweets in the Imgur album come from another account I can't link to because it has fewer than 2500 followers. However, McKellop herself has a lot more, so her own tweets should be fine.

The reaction should not be underestimated. The tweet in support of her has over 2,000 retweets. They are pressuring the University to take no adverse actions against this racist, and while I support people's right to be racist and retain their job, I don't think someone openly discriminating against some students should be retaining this sort of job.

She probably should've waited until she actually got a good teaching gig before bragging about this. Now her career might be done or on hold indefinitely.

Just goes to show how naive and overzealous these "warriors" are. They pull stunts like this, brag about it, and then wonder why they're being punished for fighting the "good fight."

Good, the class room/ lecture theatre should be an inclusive thing, now if she or as any decent teacher might got the students who did not speak up to talk the would be fine. What she did was to deliberately hinder one or two groups through some "reverse" bigotry, there is every chance that several students she oppressed through her inverted racism will have been invisible disabled*. Even if they were not, no student should expect to be ignored because they either have the wrong skin colour or genitals. The lack of professionalism is staggering though, good decision by the collage.

Disabled don't seem to count as oppressed to these SJW unless they have a couple of other special characteristics.

Her actions simply create new victims of racial prejudice and resolve nothing.

Her behavior towards people of colour implies that they are only valuable under her and not on their own merit - she's the citizen kane of race relations. It's better to give black people handout respect than have them command respect - that way you are still the boss in your relationship with them.

Using discrimination to fight discrimination is still bad. An eye for an eye leaves everyone blind. There are plenty of pedagogical techniques which guarantee everyone gets an equal chance to speak. Pick numbers randomly, or call on people round robin.

This teacher needs to recognize that she is not immune from personal bias. She is basing her teaching method on stereotypes. There are plenty of disadvantages a student can have which are invisible, such as being gay, transgender, an orphan, or a refugee.

The fact that someone came up with a formal-sounding name, like progressive stacking, to slap on that pile o' discrimination doesn't take the stink out, lady. Adding the odd 'pedagogical' in there for good measure isn't going to help, either. Discriminatory teaching practices don't become any less discriminatory because you use a more academic friendly adjective.

She calls the technique "very well worn" but her source only identifies the use of the Progressive Stack Technique in the Occupy movement. The only proponent listed admits that it might seem like an unfair practice on the individual level. Since we are graded as individuals in school, it seems like a clearly inappropriate technique to break out in a classroom environment.
