I’ve stopped buying from stores that do this. I try to choose stores that show women as people in their images and not sex trophies.

Also in the supermarket if I notice sexualized images of women in magazines, I turn them backwards, and place men’s magazines in front of them that show most skin for men 🤪

Omg I’m glad someone said this. I feel skeeved out shopping for clothes online. The models are always too young and too thin and made to pose in nasty suggestive ways. Why can’t they just look like normal happy women wearing clothes?

The only online store that I know doesn’t show their models in a hypersexualized light is H&M. The models have normal bodies, and little to no makeup on. Whereas Fashionnova, oh god, from the false beauty standards of plastic surgery to the sexualized poses, I avoid that site like a plague, plus their clothes aren’t of good quality anyway. 🤷🏽‍♀️

This just keeps getting worse and worse. It's like everywhere you look there's an image of a woman being sexually objectified, it's littered in advertisements both online and in real life. You can't even walk down the street minding your own business without this being shoved down your throat, and reminding you exactly how much society values you. What a world we live in.

I don't mean to be controversial but I feel like this is what sells to young girls nowadays (which is the real shame here), I think the company is just supplying to the demand. I'm 22 and shops that use this type of modelling are really popular amongst my age range because the girls want to be sexy and revealing, and they want to look like the models.

I think its a supply and demand problem - we should really teach women they dont have to sexualise themselves to be loved and then there would undoubtedly be less sexualised clothing and models. But the photographers/ designers themselves are just responding to what the client (eg the female public) is asking for.
