Yes my husband would have to double his income at least. It might be possible because he’s a computer programmer but at the same time he doesn’t have a degree or any formal certifications so he’s pretty lucky to have gotten a stable job at all we think. And the messed up part is the computer programming is becoming so over-saturated that by the time he gets a degree it might just be like a minimum wage job

That’s great to hear! I don’t necessarily need him to make that much I just think he deserves to get paid more than he makes because he works so hard. He’s at one of the “big 4” and unfortunately they don’t let him develop skills in any one particular computer language they just give him random training of like 20 languages. But he is so determined that he does computer programming tutorials and teaches himself for like 4 hours every night after work. So sad I wish I could help!

I feel that. My wife loves shopping and is used to being able to spend her extra money on whatever she wants. I'm not much better for online shopping (mostly tools that would be useful to have 'just in case'), but I had very little spending money for a long time, so my pockets tend to be a little more money burning resistant than hers.
The solution that seems to work pretty well for us so far is: 1. Both incomes payed into joint account1. 2. Grocery budget withdrawn weekly (overspending prevention) 3. Bill budget (expected bills + unexpected cost buffer) transferred weekly to joint account2. 4. Allowance budget (for secret gifts, guilt free spending) transferred weekly to personal accounts. 5. Recurring bills payed automatically from joint account2. 6. No unilateral joint account transactions > $50. 7. Weekly profit after costs taken out are manually transferred into a savings account.
In our case, the savings account is actually a personal account of mine. My wife has access to it, but she wanted us to put the money in my account so that she is less tempted to spend it. I use most of it to invest, but keep an extra buffer of savings in there because my wife wants it available in case something comes up that blows the budget and we need it to cover bills (she is in the bridal party for multiple weddings coming up). If we have something big that we want to save up for (like a house deposit), the plan is to keep the savings in investment until we have enough. If it is something smaller, the plan is to take it out the savings we haven't invested yet if we have enough, or to agree how much we are going to save each week for it. We are both paid fortnightly, but they are on alternating fortnight's, so that works out well.

Marriage is a team effort. My wife and I do have our own money as well as a joint account, but that's only for budgeting purposes. We have agreed on a small allowance that gets transferred into our respective accounts so that we can buy some things without consulting each other (like if we want to buy a surprise gift). Necessity costs and bills cannot be split because our money isn't 50% hers 50% mine. It is 100% ours.

Seems to be a trend of women whos expectations that keep going up but what they have to offer deminishes. They want a man to pay for everything, they want a man to plan all the trips, do all effort to make the relationship fun, when they start to lose interest it's the man's fault for not being entertaining or creative enough.
