I think they are all sexist (except maybe asshole, which, although seemingly more often used against men, is technically gender-neutral and can be used for anyone). Rather than trying to gain permission to use the word "bitch," I'd prefer it if men were given the same respect as women in terms of discouraging gendered insults. I prefer to lift everyone up instead of seeking an equality that means equal misery for everyone.

I love AOC but I think that these people don't realize men are attacked and bullied constantly by other men....it's just kind of how life is and when they have to face it too they think it only happens to them because they think men are just constantly nothing but nice to each other....but for men it's a constant battle to stay on top and when women enter the fight the dudes are gunna be just as harsh and not play nice....it sucks but it's how it is

If this had been a congresswoman confronting a congressman I would consider it worth a lecture, and I would consider those insults to be sexist as well. I think the sexism is less important than the stark lack of respect it shows. I do think there is an argument to be made that an upstart woman might be more likely to receive that gendered insult than a man in the same context. By calling it sexist, she is questioning whether or not he would have been equally nasty to a young congressman he disagreed with who was also male.

For what it's worth, I don't know that he wouldn't have called "Alexander Ocasio-Cortez" a dick, prick, and asshole. He might well have done. But I also see that her gender has been a vector for attack that people who hate her have used, repeatedly. And it shouldn't be.

I don't think we can know if it was sexism or not, without looking in his head, I don't think gendered slurs are equal to sexism if they run both ways, but it is definitely inappropriate and unacceptable conduct in congress.

That kind of language is really not appropriate for elected officials or any professional setting. I don't think the issue of gender is really relevant, but clearly she's going to spin every and all resistance or abuse she receives as being either misogyny or racism. It's an effective tactic, I guess.

Point of order: asshole is a gender neutral insult. I recommend it for all of your insulting needs.

I think it's an Eleanor Roosevelt quote, "Don't call a woman a bitch, call her an asshole. You get the same point across without being sexist."

But to your point, yes, 'dick' and 'prick' should not be used as insults.
