It's been 2 years since our separation, almost a year since our official divorce. What's funny is most of the stuff with my ex has gotten better - we fight less, we're both dating other people. We're probably not the best co-parents but I think we found a groove that works for us (communicating very little).

I say that just to say that most of the parts of divorce have gotten easier now, but this shit right here never has. We have 3 kids and the two older girls have gotten the routine I think. They go back and forth without much friction. I miss all of them of course, but my 4 year old son and I are very close. He hasn't really trusted adults other than me his whole life (including his mom unfortunately).

He didn't want to go over there today at all. While his mom was walking him away from my car, I could see his face well up into a cry and I just lost it. I had to pull around the corner and sit in my car and cry. I just fucking hate giving him up so much. I hate the thought of him being over there and needing me and not knowing why I'm not there.

I'm gonna miss half his child-hood just because she decided she wasn't happy. It fucking kills me man. Maybe this will get better as he gets older but it still feels awful 2 years in.
