In my many years on this sub, I've seen many arguments about whether feminism is actually left wing. There are good arguments that feminism is actually right wing. I've seen countless discussions about whether MRA is right wing. There are many good arguments that we're actually left wing. What I've realized, just now, is that:

  1. MRA is not on the left-right political spectrum thus it cannot be labeled as left or right
  2. Feminism likewise, cannot be categorized according to left or right

Here's a wikipedia article that specifies what makes something left or right. It says this:

left wing is characterized by an emphasis on "ideas such as freedom, equality, fraternity, rights, progress, reform and internationalism" while the right wing is characterized by an emphasis on "notions such as authority, hierarchy, order, duty, tradition, reaction and nationalism"

I'll be honest, I always thought that we are more characterized by equality and reform than we are by duty and tradition... especially since that tradition has spent thousands of years conscripting men to die for the benefit of women... and has been modifying boys' genitals without consent. Traditional roles for men are the enemy of MRA. Which I thought makes MRA fundamentally more left wing than right wing. BUT I read this in the wikipedia article...

I realized today that this applies to us. We are neither left nor right. The reason we keep having these arguments is because MRA is not on the left-right spectrum at all. We're neither left nor right.
