I’m debating just giving up in my divorce.

Nothing has gone my way. I’m resigned to the fact that I’m going to be an every other weekend dad, despite my ex having no actual evidence that I should be. The GAL and judge are on her side and I know I won’t win that one.

My ex makes 2.5x what I do, yet I’m still paying her support. She has repeatedly committed perjury, hid assets and more, yet the judge refuses to make her produce anything. She is somehow allowed to get by on her testimony alone when decided finances. So while I have to prove income, among other things, she does not.

I have a couple questions that I’d love some perspective on. I’m trying to gauge just how bad my situation is based on others experiences.

  1. Has anyone actually had a judge completely change their attitude in a case when their ex was actually exposed? As in, if I am actually able to prove that my ex has been lying and hiding assets, will the judge finally see it my way? Or will they likely just keep being in favor of my ex?

  2. Who has been totally fucked over in their divorce, as men, in contravention of the actual law? In theory, assets are supposed to be split 50/50. Right now, it looks like I’m going to get 20%. I’m wondering if it is even worth spending the money to fight for 50% if I’m never going to get it anyways.

  3. We’ve all been told what the law is (I’m in Illinois if it makes a difference). I’m curious how many people’s divorces were decided in a manner that was totally contrary to what the law actually is. Anyone have a story that shows that despite what the facts actually were and the law was clearly supposed to do, it went opposite?
