Yeah and before that there were multiple accounts spamming with weird elaborate questions like "What are your top 7 phrases to use when a girl notices your maroon sweater during a train ride".

That’s interesting. We mods have several spam-filters, sometimes they’ve ad-hoc tuning, but the one in particular you’re talking about is indeed very difficult to spot through automated filters.

We usually do manual removal as well.

Regarding the possible AI, I can’t exclude that. If you have a bigger enough dataset to train the AI, it’s not that difficult to setup one. Even a quick search on Github is enough to find several ready to use projects with decent models (the most common are the Shakespear generators, or the Trump tweets bots).

I wonder where the guy might have found so much sick texts to train a model in that way, but I suppose that scraping some weird forum (like 4chan) would do the trick.

Even in the case of a simple Markov Chain, that wouldn’t produce that stuff.

I don't think that one's a bot, just a truly disturbed person. I've had some conversations with her that felt too coherent for a bot. Also, she stops spamming when she's responding to one of the threads. I could be wrong though, because it's truly bizarre.

I work in social and I can tell you that bots on all social channels have increased dramatically since the beginning of the pandemic due to time spent across the board increasing. It’s something our reps have been open about. But what I hadn’t thought of the AI part! Terrifying, I wonder if there’s some sort of learning behind it...

I know exactly what kind of posts you mean.

I don't believe an AI is behind it because if you comment in those threads you'll get answers that specifically address your comment. Obviously in a way just as insane as the OP but it's still far too let's say tailored towards the comment for me to believe there's an AI behind it.

I believe you underestimate the willingness of people to troll.

If he automated something then it was creation of new Reddit accounts and email addresses. The latter is pretty easy anyway.

not just american sites, but all over the world

committed by agencies and governments with their own political, and social interests in mind

this is part of the 'russian meddling' that has been talked about for years

about half of the accounts on twitter and facebook are fake

There’s someone on /r/AskMenAdvice doing the exact same thing you’re describing. The post seem to come and go intermittently, presumably when the person has free time. All the questions seem to be copy/pasted

Trust your self and wait to post till you see numerous responses. Topics that are controversial or intended to shock you into discussion are obvious. If you want post to them but don’t get invested. Sometimes a post could be read by a user that gained something from it. Sometimes our responses spark something. Curiosity is deep in our mind sometimes we can express taboos. Just have fun. I know it’s a bit scary but I have seen close friends within the same room act just as shady. So the power is within yourself. Sure bots and trolls can cause some friction. No different then the one person that acts like this in a physical setting. I always question whether some shit is just posted for another agenda. But then again who cares don’t allow emotions to trigger you! READ RESPOND REFLECT.......Don’t treat like a Twitter retweet that you never fully read and investigated. More people should become their own advocate. Take a look at all sides and look at accredited and non accredited documents. No one likes a Karen so don’t be a Karen or a Kevin. Haha for real just be sure to educate yourself.
