Most people don't smile with teeth showing (me included) because it doesn't look good. The ones you see smiling with teeth are just more attractive.

Here was something I never had to engineer in my game: the smile. Are you actually having fun when you're talking to people? Then that great fun-loving natural smile will come out. And it's never bad, even if you're self-conscious about your teeth. A huge fun-loving smile diffuses creepiness, shows alpha traits, and makes her feel much more comfortable. Over and over again in countless situations, in movies, etc... likeable people are characterized by having that broad fun smile.

I think this is a cultural thing. Over here in Finland, the american smile (showing ALL your teeth) looks really really plastic and weird.. Don't smile with your lips closed, but for love of all that is nice i don't want to see all of your teeth..

I agree. The closed lip smile only works for like 2% of people. Most people just look creepy.
