I'm a smart, interesting, nice-looking guy, but I haven't had the most successful romantic life (I've had a number of partners, but I tend to date below my "league," which I know sounds cocky, but it's evident to me and others). I had a late start because I went to an all boys high school and was very shy as a kid, so I've always felt that I've lagged behind in terms of dating.

I'm just ending a long-term relationship, and I need to get out there. I live in a large metropolitan city, so meeting new people shouldn't be that hard if I push myself, join more social groups, etc. Currently, I only have a couple close friends in this city, and though I love my colleagues, many of them are older ladies, so my current lifestyle doesn't lend itself to meeting potential love interests.

I'm white, but the whole "opposites attract" thing seems to apply to me, and I've been highly attracted to Asian women my whole life, which causes me some shame for some reason. I'm not looking for marriage and kids right now, if ever.

Any advice/encouragement from older guys who have made positive changes towards a successful dating life?
