Try not to flirt too much over text, that's something that should be done in real life. If you are constantly feeling the need to use emoticons you are having the wrong kind of text conversations.Text is a great tool for keeping the interest alive and facilitating meetups but it shouldn't be something that you have long conversations with. It's too comfortable of a situation for her.

My view on emoticons is that you should use them sparingly. The problem arises when every sentence or simple joke is followed by the same smiley faces over and over again. This not only tends to demerit the idea you are trying to convey with the emoticon (if you're constantly sending winky faces, then the lady might assume that that is merely how you text and it doesn't emphasize what your saying nor alter the connotations) but also makes the conversation seem juvenile (teens, especially young ones, go crazy with the emoticons in any form of instant messaging).

A common theme on this subreddit is to keep texting to just the highlights of a conversation and for conveying important information. There just isn't enough substance to properly convey how you feel when making a statement to do so effectively through text alone and this is why a lot of people plaster emoticons over all of their messages.

To remedy the situation, only use emoticons when it is necessary to the context of a small joke and save the majority of the witty seduction for person-to-person interactions or even phone calls (where flirting is MUCH easier since the lady can easily pick up on your tone of voice and actively visualize how you say certain things).

I would hazard a guess and say that your negs may be killing things and the smileys are just an extra nail in the coffin.

Look at how she texts...does she use them frequently? If not, then don't! If she uses them in everything use them sparingly.

Text game does work if done appropriately. But you need to lay a decent ground work ahead of time.

Don't use text to create attraction, use it to build the attraction you already built. If you can construct a text in such a way that she will read it in your voice, you can escalate that attraction. This is much easier said than done though. I use text to get her thinking, get her excited to feel her phone go off. I don't play by the rules and games we see on here and it works just fine for me. If you made yourself damn near unforgettable when you left her last, texting only feeds fuel to that fire...

Also I only use negs on overly confident girls. Negs via text IMO can be dangerous if you don't know what you are doing since you lose the personal touch of being able to read her reactions.

It's something I try to keep a close eye on. I very rarely use them and to be honest, I even try to avoid exclamation marks unless absolutely necessary. But no exclamation marks means a lot of periods which can seem a little deadpan. So I will often add a question, which ends up conveying interest, so it works out. It sounds like I think too hard about it, but it's pretty rote at this point.

I love smileys. I use them a lot and they're part of my personality and who I am and how I communicate. They work for me. I also flirt over text a lot, because I love it.

Some girls love it when you use them, and some hate them. I've talked to girls who are totally turned off by them. I see it as a good way to weed people out, just like not paying for girls.

Personally, I've only had the opposite problem: people thinking I was serious and getting mad or not being interested.
