Has pickup theory changed significantly since The Mystery Method?

I'm rereading the original Mystery Method book. I'm curious how pickup theory has changed since this book came out.

Are there any glaring flaws that have now been largely accepted in the community? Are there points that are now controversial and argued against within other pickup communities/philosophies?

One thing I remember hearing is that the idea of negs was abandoned as a method of 'lowering' a woman and had instead merely become part of the false disqualifier process.
