You probably come off as boring or text her in a way most guys aren't. It's not usually a problem if you're very attractive but otherwise you have to be a bit more original.

Don't over text her. Don't send her long paragraphs where you ramble on some topic. Every single one of your message should be leading into the next one or into meeting up. Eg. "OMG, that's crazy!" "What?" "We're so hot and we haven't met yet. We need to fix that!" Just have fun with it.

When I was doing OLD, I often found that the girls I had the best conversations with over text had the worst conversation skills in person, and the girls that were boring or short answers over text were often fun conversationalists.

There’s a lot of people that are great at text and can barely carry a conversation in person. Being good or bad at texting doesn’t really mean anything.

Texting is a valuable tool in dating. I see a lot of highly up voted advice saying something like 'USE TXT ONLY TO ARRANGE A REAL LIFE MEETING' which besides being absolute dog shit advice in the modern era is just another way of saying 'my txt game lacks and I don't want to admit it'. Great orators are not necessarily good writers. And great writers are definitely not often known to be great orators. They are related skills in that they are both modes of communication, but separate skillsets. I would be uncomfortable saying that bad txt game = bad social skills as a rule, but I believe they are often co-morbid and simply indicate someone with poor communication skills.

You don't have to text much on OLD. I literally get women out on dates after a few messages (2-4) bantering/ being playful back and forth. I normally ask women what their availability is to go on a date on the third message I send via OLD.

It's hard to convey charisma via text message, so I always recommend limiting texting to logistics for the date and for messaging her back when she messages you first. You don't necessarily need to know "how to be a good texter" just focus on getting them on a date and being seductive. that's far more important.

Texting is special form of social skill. Understanding the other person without seeing them. In person you have all immediate body language, facial expressions and expressions in the voice. This allows you do adapt to a twist within seconds. In Texting you are almost blind, you have to rely on your experience and assumptions about human behavior. Therefore in texting your wrong assumptions will harm you even more. A guy with poor social skills will have even worse texting skills, because what he assumes about the other end will often be wrong, as he lacks the life experience to asses situations correctly.

You can be good at real life conversation and bad at texting and you can be good at texting and bad at real life conversations. If you have to chose one of these options, it’s better to have good real life conversations and keep texting to a minimum.

I personally not much of a text person I prefer to talk to someone in person or face to face when you’re texting someone you can’t read their body language or facial expressions through a phone screen

You can’t base a person off of their texting skills. I suck at texting because I hate it, I’d rather talk on the phone or be in person, where I can truly be myself. Or, someone can be great at texting, but suck to be around in person. It doesn’t mean much imo

Regardless, you can't judge somebody based on text messages. At the very least, you need to hear their voice, live. Schedule a phone call and you'll get your answers really quick.

I heard a tip that a good text doesn't require a response. If u ask a yes or no question they can ignore it and the convo is dead. Open ended response leave things to be able to reconnect in the future.

I have coached many guys who have decent social skills but are terrible at texting, they often need to be coached on the general principles and showed examples of good texts to get the hang of it. So no, having decent social skills does not always translate to good texting.

Not at all. I have friends who are very socially calibrated and charismatic in real life who failed at online dating.

Dating apps are just different, as compared to real life interactions. But once you know how it works, you can make very good use of it to meet women and get dates.

To answer your second question, to text well, you definitely need social intelligence. Charisma helps a lot as well, so no... if you aren't really charismatic, you won't be able to text well. But it can be learnt.

My observatiom has been that poor texting can be 2 things. Either you trying to adjust your behavior to say something to impress the girl, or you aren't comfortable around her. And it's possible you will never be comfortable around her.

But if you are adjusting your texts to impress the girl, I would say don't do that. Text her what's really on your mind, not these fake, over thought text messages. Then she can see your true personality

No. Those two can come together, but don't always. Texting allows to think about your answer, choose the exact wording that allows you to sound witty, etc. It's great if you aren't spontaneously good at flirting, but able to develop it in an asynchronous conversation.

On the other hand, texting makes it way harder to convey emotions, to use any physical aspect of themselves (smiles, look etc.) and in online dating it maybe quite hard to open a conversation, so some people may be better at in-person dating.

You can be skilled or suck at both probably, but I don’t think there’s necessarily a correlation there.
